This Year's Model Updates:

The 2003 Honda Element is a completely new vehicle for Honda. It's also the most adventurous Honda vehicle in quite a long time. Its blend of features, such as barn-style doors and waterproof seats, make it a good choice for those with active lifestyles.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional four-wheel drive, trick audio system, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, Elements with automatic transmissions and 4WD can seem sluggish.

They say the demographic is anyone 30 and younger for this vehicle, well as someone older than this I find this vehicle versatile, utilitarian, and just plain fun!!!

Two kids, love for the beach, water and outdoors - two dogs with same. Canoe or kayak on top, four bikes on the Thule rack in the 1 1/4" hitch on back, camping gear in the $40 Pep Boys softpack, not a stitch of carpeting to get fouled or mildewed, AWD traction with a good 7" of clearance - great ventilation with the sunroof and pivot windows.

I bought "Ellie" brand new and havent regretted it one day, in fact the closer I get to pay off the more excited I am to see how many miles and years I can keep her on the road, were only at 116,000 so far. I see us well into 250,000+. It is the most all around usable vehicle I have ever owned. It is transportation, out of the weather hauling, car camping, and a quick nap at lunchtime. She handles the snow and ice, the mountains and loves being loaded with camping gear. I see no reason to ever have any other vehicle.

The Element is a fun and practical vehicle. The high point is versitality. It can be many things and the interior is very roomy compared to others in its class. The vehicle is whisper quiet at idle and accellerates very well. My age group is 55 and it works good for shopping or for the grandkids on some day adventure. Very easy to clean out and tons of backseat leg room. This is an ideal family suv. it is often referred to as the hummer 3 or h3 by its admirers. buy one, youll love it.

Not a 20-something. Not a surfer. Not likely to live in the thing. Drive it to work and back, have taken 1300-mile roadtrip to test its worthiness. Good in the slushy snow while in Richmond. Love the stereo. Needs a GPS. Only miss so far? A coat hanger hook! Dogs like it. Co-workers with either an "eek-thats ugly" or "its kinda cute/interesting/chunky" (never sexy or fast looking). So far (~3000 miles) a real mule for the hauling and nice leg room and comfort for 65" owner (no, not as comfortable as the Yukon XL, but much less money). LOTS of looks and "whats thats" from the stop light and parking lot gawkers.

  • Load It Up and Go! - 2003 Honda Element

This has been a great vehicle. We loaded it to the hilt with gear for vacation (suitcases, cooler, and children. the surfboard and kayak fit nicely on top) and took off cross- country. It handled everything we asked it to. The excellent sound system made traveling a pleasure. Initial quality was great - Only time it been back to the dealership was for an oil change (current mileage 6,500) It still turns heads as we use for around town errands.

This Honda is fun to drive. The sound system is to of the line. When I first got it I took it up to the Blue Ridge to see how it would do in the snow. No problem. I was so impressed the following week I drove it to Florida to see how it would do on the beach. This SUV was made for the family who loves to vacation(MINE) and would rather spend money at the stores not at the pumps. My wife is so happy I talked her out of the Liberty. We did drive one for 4 weeks. Boy did I miss her ELEMENT.

The only problem I have had is the constant questions "what is it?" "How much does it cost?" It is a blast to drive and the best part is it is kid proof. Traded in a Ford Explorer and dont miss a thing about it.

Great car. Gets good gas mileage for a SUV. Plenty of room. Engine is plenty powerful. Great for carrying stuff.
