Overview & Reviews
The 2003 Honda Element is a completely new vehicle for Honda. It's also the most adventurous Honda vehicle in quite a long time. Its blend of features, such as barn-style doors and waterproof seats, make it a good choice for those with active lifestyles.
- Impressively versatile interior, optional four-wheel drive, trick audio system, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
- Only seats four, Elements with automatic transmissions and 4WD can seem sluggish.

I hate this thing! - 2003 Honda Element
By pwhit - June 16 - 10:00 amIve always liked Hondas, they have a great reputation for quality, but Ive never owned one. I thought this would be a great alternative to a minivan, and for about two days it was. The thing is about 70 percent plastic, and the looks of the interior is driving me crazy after about a month. I thought the exterior look was cutting edge at first, but I see people actually pointing and laughing at it while driving. It really IS stupid looking now that I have to see it in my driveway every day. Im hoping someone will steal it soon.

too expensive for such an ugly - 2003 Honda Element
By Daniel J. Graber - December 27 - 2:00 amThis has to be the worst looking car my company could have bought. It is terrible. It drives worst than my John Deere tractor. Ride is not good at all. I would have liked the company to have bought a Kia. I think this is one of the worst vehicals I have ever seen or owned

Honda Betrayal - 2003 Honda Element
By Disappointed George - February 14 - 10:00 amI purchased my Element in January 2003. Honda claimed that it would meet my most important criterion--safety. Safety was important because my 16 year old daughter would be driving it. No safety tests were available but I trusted Honda. That trust was misplaced. The Element did poorly in the side-impact tests. There is no excuse for any new SUV to not excel on side-impact tests. There is no excuse for a car company to tout the sefety of its pillarless design and then do poorly on the side-impact tests. There is no excuse for a father to purchase a car for his daughter before he knows for sure it is a safe car.

Quirky Refund - 2003 Honda Element
By Sarah Greenwood - September 25 - 2:00 amGreat little teaser, but once you start living with it, it start to annoy and dissapoint. Tried to get a refund because of such poor expectation, but dealer was not one bit cooperative. Was even willing to trade for a CRV, but the trade in value was 20% lower than what I bought, which was needless to say, just above the retail price, plus the "dealer performace" packages. Oh well, I guess you live and learn. Get a CRV, if you like Hondas and SUVs, otherwise, good luck.

Honda has a lemon in the Element - 2003 Honda Element
By Element - Bad News - January 18 - 10:00 amThis car has so much wind noise & my dealership has not been able to locate my wind noise problem. The panels on the roof are help together with plastic clips & every time the dealership works on it they break another plastic clip or do not get the thing put back together properly. I had a 97 CRV before this one & loved it so much & had no problems so I decided to try another Honda. My mistake was not going back with another CRV. If you want a quiet ride this is not the car to own.

Engine Trouble - 2003 Honda Element
By Tom Ohio - January 23 - 2:00 amI had the car one month and took it back to the dealer for engine noise and was advised it needed a new short block engine. The dealership advised it was 2.5 qts of oil low and threw a rod at 1700 miles. I dont want a car with a rebuit engine.
