Has there ever been a better car????? - 1997 Geo Prizm
By Jim - August 12 - 11:42 amI bought this car new late in the model year (12 years ago). I have spent a max of $1000 in this time period on minor repairs. It still gets 38 mpg+ with the 5-speed manual transmission. So given this is a 13- year old car, why arent new cars much better? So far I cant think of any reason for getting a new car.

Best. Car. EVAR. - 1995 Geo Prizm
By Susan Bea - August 5 - 12:08 amBought used in March 97 in NJ with 25K miles. Its made it with me everywhere to this day & now has 182K. Its never let me down. Moved from CT to Oregon in the summer of 2008, and without hesitation I drove it across the country. Put over 6K miles on it in 10 days in 100 degree weather & over the mountains in Colorado. I cant say enough good things about it! Sure its old now, and the paint looks bad. The moonroof and trunk get a little leaky. Ive had to replace the starter & things wore out from old age & use.. BUT IT STILL RUNS RELIABLY EVERY DAY! Sadly, its spoiled me rotten, because I realize no car I ever own again in life will last me 12.5 years (and counting!) like my Geo.

Farewell Trusted Friend - 1995 Geo Prizm
By brooktroutchaser - July 4 - 12:22 pmThis is a farewell I am selling my Prizm after some twelve years. It has been reliable and cheap. The next owner should enjoy many more years of service. It has but 128,800 miles. However, I bought a slightly used 05 Scion Xa, so it is time to part ways. The Prizm has served me well, never let me down, and Ill certainly miss her. She has a hum in the dash she didnt have before, but still drives well. I hope her next owner gives her an oil change every 3000 miles and hand waxes her as Ive done.

still going strong - 1997 Geo Prizm
By dercpi - June 30 - 12:27 amHands down, the best vehicle I have ever owned due to its reliability and cost savings. The styling remains fresh if not fresher today than some of the crap being built now. My first was a 1994 LSi lease. It, too, was flawless. I drove my 97 off the showroom floor with 3/10s of a mile on it. As of today, it has exactly 310,000 miles on it! The engine and transmission remain original as does the exhaust and most of the suspension. The fit and finish remain strong as does the interior. Not bad considering it has never been garaged. It still gets great gas mileage, burns very little oil and has no squeaks. Why this model/line was ever killed off beats me. Wake up GM, you blew it.

A great car - 1996 Geo Prizm
By paganpink - May 30 - 1:58 pmAlthough my car has only 91,600 miles which is very low for a 13 year old vehicle I can safely say that its reliability is really astounding. Everything still works fine- cold air, radio/cassette, etc. etc. It simply never needs anything other than routine maintenance to be done on it, year after year after year. What a great car. And its comfortable to boot, although its not a prestigious looking car, but nonetheless they are the automotive equivalent of the Energizer bunny.

The ride that keeps on going - 1992 Geo Prizm
By ronniezlove - May 15 - 8:29 pmThe drivers door handle has broken off and is non functional as well as the inside handle. We open the inside with the handle of a crescent wrench . The passenger door opens from the outside only and we have to use the wrench to get out. So I will say they should have come up with a better door handle system. No problems with the drive train. It does use 5 or 6 qts. of oil a year. Overall, I LOVE this car and would recommend one just like it to anyone!

Hurray for Geo - 1995 Geo Prizm
By Hurray for Geo - May 14 - 12:19 pmExcellent little car that was always there as we went through other cars. The little geo was a work horse and we are passing it on to our nephew to use. Great fun little car that ran smooth. 210,000 miles replacing the engine so that we can keep it.

Shell never die - 1996 Geo Prizm
By BubSkee - May 1 - 9:57 pmI bought this car from the display in the center of the dealership. It has 238,000 miles and she still runs perfect. Ive not had a single problem with it. The required Minor tune-ups is all ive ever done to it and it keeps going strong too. I bet that i can easily get another 100,000 miles out of it. This is the best out of the 3 cars ive owned. I would recommend this car any day of the week.

The BEST car ever !!!! - 1995 Geo Prizm
By Fernando - April 12 - 2:48 pmPurchased a new Geo Prizm, LSI, 95, in March 1995. As of April 2009, it has 279,000 miles. I do love this car for its reliability, easy handling, fuel economy, and no nonsense style (does not have unnecessary things that most people do not use or do not need). I have seen the newer cars (Acura TSX) and, given the age of my Prizm, I was thinking that it was about time to give up my Geo. However, recently a lady hit my car and broke the back bumper, which gave me the opportunity to paint my Prizm back to its original color and shine. The love for this car came back. There is no way I am giving up a reliable and fun to drive car that has given me 279,000 miles and 14 years of solid driving.

I love this car - 1995 Geo Prizm
By Gizz4mo1 - March 30 - 6:07 pmMy parents bought this car in 1995 used with 10k miles on it. I grew up in this car and now I drive it. Its a great machine. It now has over 350,000 miles on it. It needs some repairs, but it still gets me from point a to point b with little trouble. Its kinda a pain in the summer though... I cant use the a/c or the car will stall, and it has problems starting in the summer. Also, if I come to a complete stop, I have to hold the gas down a bit and keep it flowing or the car will stall. Ive also had to replace the timing belt, tensioner, dist. Cap, door handles, oil pump, fuel pump, fuel line, and I had to weld a hole shut in the gas tank. Even with all these problems, I still love it.
