  • The Awesome Prizm (My baby) - 1997 Geo Prizm

This is one of the best reliable cars that I have ever owned. It has outlasted a Toyota Camry and a Honda Civic. It will probably outlast my brand new Hyundai Santa Fe!!!

  • Geo Prizm - reliable car - 1996 Geo Prizm

I bought this car straight out of school, knowing that Id need a ride that would last a while. I knew I would drive it into the ground. At least I thought I would. I bought it at 16K miles. Some older woman had had the car, and I bought it for 7k even. Other than routine oil changes, I had 2 mechanical problems. The catalytic converter went in 02, and I recently had a fuel filter go. Thats it. It has been a comfortable car. I have had both of my kids in car seats in the car. We have fit 5 people comfortably. It has fair pick up, considering... it performs fairly in the NE winter, though its no dream. All in all, its most amazing feature has been reliability. Id do it again.

  • My little Red Prism - 1997 Geo Prizm

I presently have 178000 miles on my Prizm and it runs as good today as the day I bought it. I have not sufferred any major problems at all. I am 64" tall and I can wear my western styled hat while I drive. I routinely get 37 miles per gallon. This is a combination of city and hiway driving. I manage this milage on midrange gasoline. Based on the foregoing I do not understand why the car was discontinued. My next car shall be as close to the Prizm that I can get. Thank you

This has been a very good dependable car. Not super comfortable on long trips.

  • Not Bad - 1995 Geo Prizm

Bought this car from my dad with 33K miles on it. Had no trouble with it until 75K. Replaced starter, alternator within a year. At 93K, oil started to leak into one of the Cylinder chambers causing it not to fire. $400 repair. 6 months later, the distributor cap/rotor went and that was a $700 repair. Now the head gasket has gone as oil seaps out of the block. Not repairing that, as it has 124K and am looking to buy something else. Other than that, the car has been fine. The Prizm is generally reliable as it is a Corolla, but mine was the rare exception.

  • Keeping It In the Family - 1994 Geo Prizm

I bought the car in 2/2001 for my 16- year-old daughter. It had 125K on it at the time. The only repair I have made was to replace the alternator (this occurred shortly after I bought it). Now at 150K, it is being handed down to my younger daughter who recently turned 16. The car has survived Ohio weather for 11 years and now will be spending its "old age" (I think these cars age slower than most...its got to be that Toyota reliability factor) in South Carolina. It still looks and runs great, and my daughter cant wait to put a CD player in it!

  • Best little car - 1995 Geo Prizm

I bought this car against my better judgement when I was in dire need. Its now been almost two years and 18,000 miles later and I love this car. It has to be the most reliable, economical vehical I ever purchased. The best $500 I ever spent. I would seriously consider buying a new Geo ( if they were around) based on my experience with the Prizm.

  • Excellent boring sedan - 1995 Geo Prizm

Had my Prizm for 8 years. In that time, apart from normal maintenance, I had the alternator replaced once, and a pully broke once. Highly reliable, economic, and completly boring.

  • blown engine - 1995 Geo Prizm
    By -

Bought prizm with 100,000 miles on it as a work car. Previous owner had all maintenance documentation, oil changed every 3,000 miles, all service done by qualified dealer, etc. this car looked good and ran like a top. Wife was driving prizm down highway and heard "pop", pulled off road and opened hood to reveal oil pouring out from under car. Piece of engine went through oil pan destroying engine. Was no warning this was about to occur. Car ran perfect for the 10,000 miles I owned it until engine let go. Definitly not mainteance issue as car was babied.
