  • Transmission Defect - 2016 Ford Escape
    By -

My Model is the 2016 Escape Titanium FWD (front, not 4-wheel) 2.0 L GTDI Echoboost Engine 6-SPD Selectshift Auto Trans, with a sticker price of $33,624.99. There is a bad "shudder" in the transmission which is felt and heard when going from reverse to drive. My dealer says, after I had it in for repair 2 times, once for 4 days, "Ford Motors is aware if this ISSUE in these models. However, they are not authorizing any repairs at this time", giving me no time frame as to when a solution might be found. I only have 1200 miles on this vehicle, and owned it for less than 90 days. My dealer (Sanders Ford, Jacksonville, NC) is offering me no solution, buy back, or promise that I might be broken down on highway or what this means for my investment. Service manager referred me to the Ford Hotline Consumer line to "open a case" on my particular vehicle, this was more of the same run around that it will be fixed as soon as the engineers come up with a solution. Then told me to try coming to a complete stop and very slowly take off, and I wouldnt feel the "shudder", which I loved being told to drive it differently to accommodate their defect. I am livid with Ford Motors, and the dealership who is still selling these 2016 Escapes right now from their showrooms and lots. Are they telling buyers today that there is an "Issue" with the transmission ? Did they know of this issue when they sold me mine ? Cannot get a timeframe on how long they knew of this issue, but know I bought one of the first 2016s from Sanders Ford. Looks like I am stuck with this vehicle and at their mercy, but I surely am going to spread the word about not being told and it having a warranty that they will not or cannot use to repair transmission. Next step is going to be the BBB in our area for misrepresentation of this new vehicle, sold with a known defect. Apparently, this "Hot Line" is just a drop box for these issues until they get enough complaints, then they issue recalls. Meantime their unsuspecting buyers/customers are making payments on something that may or may not be dependable. Ford had a "better idea" so they thought, about the Pinto, which they put people off for so long that many people were burned to death..then they recalled ! Think they would learn. Dont think I will ever be happy with this car, no matter how it ends, and will never buy another Ford.

  • Great little Ford - 2016 Ford Escape
    By -

First , the Escape. I purchased had the 2.0litre turbo, which changes this vehicle from a nice little SUV to an OMG, Im going how fast! Wanted something bigger for my wife then the Hyundai that she had and researched the Escape. This little SUV is far from little in features and interior room. First off the seating is comfortable and after driving 3 hours to Orlando, I hoped out and felt no fatigue and was ready to go. The driving characteristics are responsive and light, sometimes can feel a little to responsive, wish it had a sport mode for steering like my mustang. The power is great, 240hp out of a 2 litre turbo, crazy, kept finding myself cruising at high 80s and having to let off the gas. At this speed it averages 26.5 mph. We were loaded up with 2 dog carriers and several sets of golf clubs as well as suit cases and everything fit in the back without a single care. The interior sound was minimal, more noticeable was the tire noise from the Continental tires... All in all would have no problem suggesting this vehicle and hope to put many miles on it.

  • Totally surprise with the performance... - 2016 Ford Escape
    By -

We recently got a 2016 Ford Escape S (base model) and Covert Ford here in Austin, TX gave us a great deal for the car. We just went to Dallas to visit my son and were totally surprise with the performance (very agile and fast). We just had 1,500 miles and on it and averages - - 26.4 miles/gal (city) and 31.8 miles/gal (highway) - - I thought the gauges were wrong but it confirmed it when I fill her up. We didnt have all the bells and whistles but it has enough features we need to have a smooth/leisure travel - - bluetooth, back-up camera, usb port. We do keep our cars for a long time - - so, I do not regret adding a 7/100,000 miles extended warranty on it - - definitely gonna drive this to the ground.

  • Love Our Escape - 2016 Ford Escape

Weve purchased our new Ford Escape less than a month ago. It has the additional Equipment Group 201A package. We havent tested it on various road or weather conditions, including wet pavement. This is our first SUV. It has very good maneuverability and pick up for city and highway driving. We havent hauled heavy loads. We love the rear camera, all-around visibility and reverse sensors that give us added protection with backing up. The interior is very comfortable but wish there were more storage compartments in the front. We love the convenient storage in our 2010 Fusion which has more storage space than the Escape. The lumbar support and ability to elevate the drivers seat, adds to the drivers comfort with less fatigue. So far the gas mileage isnt great - only 20 mpg combined city and highway. But our vehicle isnt properly "broken in" yet. The owners manual states to calculate after the first 1000 miles, which we havent reached yet. The Sync 3 is awesome and user friendly! The speaker system produces clear, crisp stereo music. Also, the mph displays in large numbers on the information display panel allows the driver to see the speed at just a quick glance. The cruise control buttons are easy to find and its much easier to resume speed with just a flip forward on the resume/cancel bar. This winter, we will appreciate the FWD that will automatically convert to AWD if needed. We have used edmunds.com for over 15 years and have found it to be a very reliable source of information for our auto purchases.

  • 2016 Escape has it all and priced right. - 2016 Ford Escape

The 2016 Escape has been an outstanding SUV. I had a 2005 Mazda Tribute before this SUV and the upgrade to the 2016 Escape is outstanding. My fuel Economy is greatly improved and Maintenance is a lot lower. The Driving with the 2.0L has been a blast and the SUV has increasable speed that make you move. The very best thing in the SUV is the design and look inside as the model I have is the higher end with all the bells and whistles. I think for the price and what you get in this SUV is a great bargain as friends that drive MB and Audi model now prefer driving my Escape at time, Thanks FORD for a great new fast and comfortable SUV. I want to mention that I looks around at a lot of models including the Edge but found the smaller Escape better sized for my needs.

  • Great Little Crossover! - 2016 Ford Escape

Been shopping for a small SUV for quite some time. Had a 2005 Ford Escape XLT and sold with 128,000 miles. Was excellent vehicle and had only regular maintenance, and no major repairs. After looking at what the current market has available (Honda Pilot, Toyota, GMC, Dodge and GM) and tested, kept coming back to the Escape. My main concern was no available V6, only the inline 1.6 or 2.0 with turbo. I worried about having to always run high rpms and wasnt sure about engine longevity. After driving the Titanium with optional 2.0 L, Package 301 and navigation system a few times, I was completely sold on the 4 cylinder. Has great power, turbo is smooth and rpms are surprisingly low. Comfortable ride and the new Sync3 is reasonably easy to learn. Fit and finish is also excellent. I did not opt for the 19" wheels, just the standard 18". Have read a few reviews that the 19" wheels made for a bit of a rougher ride. I did not test drive any that had the 19". With 240hp rating, its much faster than my 2005 V6 was. I also have the class II towing package, rated at 3,500 lbs. At this time, I dont have anything near that range, so assuming it wont be a problem. Have also seen that various auto reviews have been very good. Hoping the reliability factor will meet with what I had on the 2005.

  • Ford Escape 2015 New Flooded - 2016 Ford Escape
    By -

Purchased car new in May. I am long-term Ford customer. Car FLOODED due to defect in front windshield. Ford will not replace or to buy back program after copious amounts of water was in this vehicle. Will not recommend to anyone due to Ford seems to feel that this is not a serious issue. I did not want a vehicle I purchased new 5 months ago to have a history of flooding.

  • Work vehicle - 2016 Ford Escape
    By -

This is my work vehicle. It has 12k miles. It is poorly built... The doors dont give the satisfying thunk of a Volkswagen or even a Fiat. Or even an older Ford... It just feels cheap and the door rattles when you close it. There is a lot of soft touch materials but they feel cheap and about 1cm of a strip of vinyl trim piece on the door is always coming untucked from the surrounding hard plastic trim. The seats are unsupportive and unsuitable for long shifts like mine or road trips but they should be fine for most I suppose. The vehicle makes weird vibrating noises around the muffler occasionally, when idling to the point that Ive gotten comments from people. It makes weird buzzing sounds sometimes that come from the dashboard that make it bothersome to sleep in if the vehicle is running and the radio isnt on. The AC has been replaced because it wouldnt cool. The starter was replaced because the vehicle refused to start unless you would press the gas pedal as it was starting. Strobe lights would come on and a message on the dash would appear that the key was not detected. Despite the repair it has not been fixed and still does it when it hasnt been driven in a while. Look at vehicle dependability studies from JD Powers, and you will see Ford is near the bottom-- only Dodge does worse. Even Land Rover and Fiat come ahead... Unlike some other people I am not bothered by the Dual Clutch transmission. It has its quirks but Americans are just too used to slush boxes. The vehicle handles well for a "SUV" and suspension, and steering, is something Ford has massively improved in comparison with the previous generation but the build quality still isnt there with any of the foreign makes.
