  • Love my 2018 Ford Escape S - 2018 Ford Escape

This review is for the base model. I thought I needed all the “bell’s & whistles” and discovered I don’t. This compact CUV has the same 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine that my 2016 Ford Fusion SE had. I never had any problems or issues with this engine. Somehow this engine seems more spirited in the 2018 Ford Escape. I’m more than satisfied. The Escape has enough interior room for four—five is fine, but not comfortable, depending on the girth of the rear occupants. Leg room is excellent for any 6-footer or shorter. It’s a bit cramped in the rear seat if the front seats are moved too far back. I’m a techie by heart and find the telematics on this CUV to do everything I need from my ride. Having dealt with the SYNC with MyFord Touch in my previous vehicle, I find the base SYNC 1.1 version much easier to navigate. I can deal with the buttons versus a touchscreen. The only negative point here is the small 4.5 inch screen above the center stack. I can work with that too. Of note is the electronic parking brake that works with a button. Gone is the handbrake lever which allows for more cubbies for small items. The exterior was updated in 2017. The Escape was given a redesigned front with a black grille that I find sporty. Tail lamps were also redesigned. I find the exterior to be attractive and good-looking amongst other compact CUVs. I’ve only had my Escape for two weeks and am impressed with its capabilities. I’ll come back in six months to give an update.

  • ReVamp Design Surprise! - 2018 Ford Escape

We never thought wed be in an ESCAPE, EVER, not in this life or next - we hated the boring look and basic utilitarian styling. Except now, we noticed in late 2017 that the styling had changed, something very stylish yet easy on the eyes. But it was a ford, how great could it be, would we have irrepairible GEM Module Problems of years past?? Whats with the app FORD PASS?! Now this is a significant improvement over is competitors!! The more we mulled over it, the more we finally realized it was revamped enough for us to take notice and if it had GEM Module problems, we would definitely take it back (the warranty had improved!). All kidding aside, we have finally entered a new era of FORD Vehicles - after all, they would not be in business if their vehicles quality never improved. For the record, we owned 1996 Explorer and a 1994 Ranger --Ford came back and was finally a contender in our books, the quality had improved. We are the typical BMW & MBZ drivers we moved from a sporty number inline 4 - MBZ CLA-250. Heres what we knew we wanted...a SUV with similar "quality of drive" with same type of engine & power plus techie stuff that was lacking in the MBZ. Little did we know that for the same price of the GLA-250 base, we could get more space and techie things -- we never knew we needed (i.e. backup camera, more proximity sensors that we didnt know we needed, rear door foot sensor opener, & rear seat reading lights? - who knew?) Though the initially the differences were short on the base model escape. We gained creature comforts and more tech than what we had in the MBZ for the price. We found ALL of that in the Escape Titanium is smaller than the GLC - but so is its pricing >20k). Only a couple real downsides: #1 are the bucket seats - not quite as ergonomically comfortable as the MBZ, seats are more "truck-like" than crossover type seats and #2 touch screen, some of the UI (User Interface is a bit tricky) - but once again, it won us over -- it just takes some getting used to (options, audio set-up, functionality, etc).

  • 2018 FORD ESCAPE is a Good Value - 2018 Ford Escape

This vehicle is indeed a good value. I purchased a Ford Escape S. Base model that still has plenty of features to make driving this vehicle easy. The interior is a bit busy and maybe a bit dated. Backup camera screen is smaller than others but is functional. Handling is good - the vehicle feels solid. SYNC for android phone is very good. Balance of front versus rear seat room is good for a vehicle this size. Cargo space is adequate - again considering the relatively low price of the vehicle. With discounts and negotiation I purchased a $25,800 vehicle for $19,900. I am quite satisfied with the features and quality at that price. Now allow me to drive it 150,000 miles as I intend to do over the next 6 years and hopefully I will have minimal maintenance and repair issues. Then I will be even happier with my decision to purchase the Ford Escape S.
