Overview & Reviews
Changes to this family sedan for the 2001 model year include optional side airbags, a shoulder belt for the central rear passenger, an internal trunk release, three new interior colors, two additional exterior colors, and an additional power outlet in the center console if you get a model with bucket seats. For those cars equipped with the Infinity sound system, you'll receive steering wheel-mounted controls and a four-disc in-dash CD player. SE is now the base Intrepid designation (previously is was the mid-level model) and it includes higher grade fabric this year. All engine choices meet LEV standards and all models receive thicker side glass and upgraded windshield moldings for a quieter ride.
- Huge interior, gigantic trunk, composed ride, attractive looks.
- Cheap interior materials, lots of engine and road noise, large size makes parking a chore.

Intrepids are underrated - 2001 Dodge Intrepid
By Intrepid22102 - September 4 - 2:00 amI can see why Consumer Reports made the car a Best Buy, but I dont understand why they dont get more respect from consumers. Roomy, comfortable, handsome, and accelerates and handles surprisingy well for a large car. Climate control is nice and it has a Great stereo, too! Not a Bimmer, but they cost 40 percent less. Very good "bang for the buck!"

Intrepids Are Cool - 2001 Dodge Intrepid
By DLB - March 6 - 2:00 amPurchased mine w/ 25000 miles last Sept. Great driver, base engine has plenty of power, especially at higher rpms (contrary to others that complain of weak power). Lots interior room, trunk is great for families (huge!). And one of the sharpest full-size cars around. This design will look good for years to come. We are very happy with our Intrepid.

good car, great buy - 2001 Dodge Intrepid
By fredmanxyz123 - March 2 - 2:00 amMine has the 2.7 V-6, I wish it had the 3.2, I miss the power, and driving a FWD for the first time takes getting used to, but this is a great buy, a great car, all things considered, when you look at features versus cost. The nearest thing to it is over $30,000.

Sleek, stylish, big can be cool, too - 2001 Dodge Intrepid
By emurray - October 3 - 2:00 amAfter bringing it home, discovered auto tranny leak from hose fitting. Repaired under warranty at selling dealer - bad experience. Am now having fun driving to work, hauling the family around and on road trips. The factory stereo in the ES is pretty close to all youll ever need. Not happy with the stingy amount of leather - trimmed seats. Trunk space is unparalleled for a full-size. Replace air filter and muffler/resonator and youll have loads of HP!
