  • And keeps on going... - 1994 Dodge Intrepid

I bought my 1994 base in 1998 with 87,000 km on it. The car now has 485,000 km. The a/c still works and so does pretty much everything else. There is a short in the rear defogger. I had a tranny problem in 2002 and had it rebuilt for $2,500. Still works great. Only thing I dont like is the lack of head room and Im only 6 feet and not the best mileage. Looking for a small 4 cyl but intend to keep the Intrepid. Oh, never had to change the exhaust system and I never get stuck in the snow and I only use all-season tires. Rear springs done about 2 years ago.

Our Intrepid has generally been reliable and fun. Pretty roomy. We live in the far north and yet, it has done well so far. I wish its electronics were more reliable and its headlights proper.

My Intrepid has 319,000km or 198,000 miles on the original drive train. Does not use oil between changes and still averages 10 litres /100km or almost 30mpg. Easy to work on and the dealer has been very helpful with the few problems encountered. Original owner.

  • So far, so good - 1994 Dodge Intrepid

Bought this car off a mechanics lot with 96,000 mi. for $1,900. After owning it for two weeks, the "anti-theft system" (which in this case causes the steering wheel to lock up unless the [proper] key is inserted into the ignition) went ahead and locked up the steering wheel even though I was indeed trying to start the car with its own key. Had to take the car back to the mechanic, who removed the "anti-theft system" for about $300. My faith being shaken, I began to prepare for the worst, but (so far) the car has given me no problems since. I find acceleration with the 3.3 to be sluggish, although the car does handle well for its size.

  • Fun Full size car. - 1994 Dodge Intrepid

My 94 Dodge Intrepid is fun to drive and comfortable. Ive owned it for two years and the only problems Ive had was that the drums stick or a spring in the drum brakes breaks but I like the disc. It hugs the road very well. It has 164,000 miles and it still runs good plus its 3.3L is easier to work on than the 3.5L the my father has in his 1993 Eagle Vision the he has had cooling problems with. If you want a good car that will be there and that is good in snow, get an Intrepid.

  • I think you all drove my car - 1994 Dodge Intrepid

Transmission cooling problem around 60000 miles, most of the a/c has been replaced (half in extended warranty), a/c still doesnt work. lots of brake replacements, lots of headlight replacements. Think Dodge supplement their income with selling necc. parts. Funny rattle in steering took a while to find. Currently at 125,000. Suprised I had to replace rear engine mount and outer tie-rod ends. But car is still going strong. Ive had it since 1998 (& 50000 miles), with really no major problems since then, plenty of minor. Definately had to be a home-mechanic with this car. Selling garage had to put new shocks on at 50000 miles.

  • Great car except for transmission - 1994 Dodge Intrepid

Bought car new for my wifes 25th aniversary. Loaded, really a nice car, right up to when the transmission came unglued at just under 55K. Dodge wouldnt touch it as the warrenty had expired. Dealer said it would cost about $3K to fix and take 4-6 weeks. Too many plastic parts (to save weight?) Basically, I traded it in on a new Ford for what I still owed on it.

Even though I bought a 2000 Intrepid, I still love to drive this one. (it is paid off) It is still reliable and I have not put much money into it.

  • Mash The MOFO pedal...and go ... - 1994 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

This car in the 10 years since introduction.. has become the vehicle of choice for cabbies.....whats that say?. Ill tell ya...Roomy inside..lots of trunk space..starts ..runs...handles... (in the snow and rain ..even) ..and..oh yeah .. Mash the MOFOing GO pedal ..and the beast goes..(crushing any cute little honda\toyota\mazda\tofu eating v4 car youd care to name).... All the fun stops/runs out/becomes a little spooky.. around 112/118 mph on the stock set up ..depending on the condition of the car. Staying on top of the recalls is/was mandatory..all work done on mine was under warranty ..currently 100,000 miles..with all recall work done...runs great
