  • The 1999 Dodge Intrepid is a piece of junk. - 1999 Dodge Intrepid

The intrepid was o k at first but after it got a few thousand miles it started having a lot of trouble. The 2.7 motor is too weak for this car and gives a lot of problems. We had to replace the motor at about 80,000 miles.I am just glad we had a warranty. After that the computer was going out.Sometimes the intrepid would die going down the road and not start for about 10 minutes. One trip it died on me 10 times within a 70 mile trip.A mechanic said a computer for it would be around $1000.00.To me the intrepid was not worth that. The heater fan only worked on high. Some of the windows would not go down. All I can say is the Intrepid was my firdt and last Dodge.

  • Very disappointed - 1999 Dodge Intrepid

Purchase car August 28 2008. Motor went out December 24, 2008. Also the power window motor went out 3 days buying the car. After going to about 3 auto repairs shops trying to get a rebuilt motor or use motor I was told not to waste any more money on this car because it is no worth it. After talking to previous and past owner of this car mostly the same review, that it is a worthless piece that Dodge could have put out on the market

  • Run For Your Life - 1999 Dodge Intrepid

This is by far the worst car I have ever owned. The first year was okay, but it went "downhill" after that. The a/c and heating is far from adequate and very loud especially on high. It took the dealership three years to figure out what was wrong.(it was the condenser) The power locks and windows have worked much less than perfect for the last four years. Now 62,500 miles and 7 years later the motor has thrown a rod and I am receiving information that I am not the only one that has had the motor go "kaboom" at 60,000 miles. So, beware if you buy a 1999 Dodge Intrepid.

  • CAR-LESS - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

The car started off great and roomy enough for two kids, great trunk space. I sit here today car-less because the engine is gone. For the past six years we have dealt with sensors going out, airconditioning, and oil pan problems. The rear passenger window rolls up when it wants to. Steer away from this car.

  • Terrible - 1999 Dodge Intrepid

I bought this leased vehicle from my company (who obtained it new) and I know it had good perodic maintenance because I saw the records but it had catastrophic failure of the engine and transmission with less than 74,000 miles on it. Daimler-Chrysler should be ashamed of this 2.7L engine.

  • Nothing but mechanical problems - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

After five years of continuous mechanical problems, the 2.7L engine siezed for no apparent reason (we changed the oil pretty regularly), resulting in a total write-off. I wish Id never bought the car.

  • This Car Is Garbage! - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

We have spent approximately $7,000 on repairing this car and now the transmission is gone and the dealership wants another $2,000! This car has had a new engine, sensors, a/c problems etc. DO NOT BUY!

  • the worst car i ever had - 1999 Dodge Intrepid

it was the worst car i ever owned. i would not have any other chrysler product in my garage. they are cheap, they dont run worth anything after 30,000 miles, and i just dont think they care too much about us.

  • Never Again! - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

Bought as a program car. Have 54K miles on it. Have had numerous mechanical problems. AC out @30K. Front right strut@40K. Left control arm bar@50K. AC and alternator belts@53K. Even the Dodge emblem fell off the front hood. Talk about junk. I tried to trade it in and the dealer would only offer me 2k for it. Talk about a joke. Ill never buy American again.

  • Loved it at first...Now a headache - 1999 Dodge Intrepid
    By -

I loved this car when I first got it. It looked great and drove great. The problem came when the engine blew. After doing much research, I have found that there have been many problems with this model and the 2000. Engines blow prematurely and it costs anywhere between $3000 and $5000 to replace. I was told by the mechanic to fix the car and then sell it. That would be great, but the resale value has sharply declined in the last year due to so many problems with the engines. I strongly suggest...DONT BUY THIS MODEL!
