Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

Security Advisor - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By george - July 28 - 1:30 pmWe purchased this vehicle to replace one of our Security fleet Chevy Cavaliers. Vehicle has excellent acceleration, comfort for driving and setting in. Fuel mileage is near 30 MPG in city & hwy driving combo. Have used to pull a loaded 8 trailer & didnt notice any changes except fuel mileage dropped to 24 MPG.on the hwy. As a security vehicle we have engaged in high speed chases with many different vehicles. The Colorado hasnt been out-run yet or out-performed.

2005 that has given me no problems - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Debis - July 14 - 9:31 pmMy daughter and I fell in love with the Colorado crew cab on first sight and I have not been disappointed. We drove it home the same day we laid eyes on it. Did the recall on the brake lights and dealt with the ac switch but I have had no other problems. It is a perfect size for me and my big yellow dog that thinks the truck belongs to him. Gas mileage is much better when I pay attention to my speed.

Awesome truck! - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By Paul - July 9 - 6:18 pmThere is nothing not to love about this truck!I have the 5 cylinder3.7 litre engine (242 horsepower) It has plenty of power, awesome gas mileage for a truck. Im averaging around 20 - 21 combined, which is pretty much the same mileage I got with my 2006 Honda CR-V! Dont get me wrong the CR-V was a great car also, (I traded it in with 54,000 completely trouble free miles on it) But I am in construction and I really just needed a truck. So far, the Colorado fills my needs perfectly. Dont listen to expert reviews, read the consumer reviews, and dont listen to people complaining about it not having a V8! I had a 2003 Dodge Ram1500 with a V8, and that had less horsepower than my 5 cylinder Colorado!

2007 Z71 Crew Cab w/ 3.73 gears & tow pk - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By Derek - July 4 - 4:12 pmI enjoy my 2007 Colorado Crew Cab Z-71, 4x4. I get about 18 mpg on a tank, with the 5 cyl and Automatic trans (75 - 80mph on highway). Keep in mind I have the trailer towing package and 3.73 gears which are deep. I have the limited slip rear end, so I have a "true" 4x4. I dont think 18 mpg is too bad for a truck like this. One tank I got 20+ mpg. Its solid, well build, far and away better than the S10 (which I also owned). Unlike the S10 my Colorado is comfortable enough to use for those 1,000+ mile trips. I just wish Chevrolet was bright enough to offer the diesel engine, which is available in the Isuzu 370...only in Japan but, it is the same truck as the Colorado and Canyon.

What S10 - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By lilgas69 - July 4 - 1:19 pmi had to let my S10 go due to penny pinching. but I loved the truck. I did not expect the Colorado to be as good as it is but the 2.8 is great for mileage and power and the sound system is the best stock I have heard yet.

Great small pickup - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By New vehicle - June 30 - 6:52 pmI bought a 2.9 automatic, extented LT cab with door locks and upgraded seats. I debated between buying a Tacoma and the Colorado. I favored the Tacoma, but the seat in the Tacoma convinced me to buy the Colorado with an elec seat. The 2.9 engine is not underpowered as Consumers Reports and other want to tell you. The 29 downshifts less frequently than the 3.5 Terrazo and 4.2 F150 I drove previously. On a 400 mile trip, at 60 mph, on state highways through some small towns, I averaged 27 mpg. It is solid and fun to drive. it is attracting compliments regarding its appearance. It is free-wheeling and coasts a lot around town. That saves on gas. The bed-liner came standard with the pickup.

I love my truck! - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By KTCalloway - June 27 - 9:34 amAbsolutly no problems. Handles well, comfortable ride. Looks great too. Would like better gas mileage of course, but it is as advertised. Design of the seat belt placement not comfortable for short person( Im 53"). Love the OnStar, will never have another car without it!

I like it so far. - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By t21969 - June 16 - 6:46 pmIt is large and comfortable enough for my wife, three kids and I, and I am 64" 280lbs. My Suzuki DR 400 fits in the bed fine with the tailgate down. It has a smooth ride and handles the Texas Panhandle roads well. We have not owned it long enough to get a real test on mileage but I like what I have seen so far.

The Lucky One - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By Luckygirl - June 16 - 4:24 pmI own a 2004 Colorado extented cab ZQ8. I love my truck. The only problem Im having is the AC works good on 4 but on 1,2,3 dont hold your breath. I have 62,000 miles and I still get around 24 - 27 mpg. This truck has the get up and go. I turn heads and when Im on the freeway people move out of my way. Im not sure if its the yellow that makes them move or if they are letting me by just to get a glance of the beauty

I like the truck - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By Ed - June 6 - 9:20 pmI bought this truck new in 11/07 and traded in my Toyota 2004 Tacoma. This is my first American truck and I am pleased. I have over 16000 miles and it rides great. It holds the road and drives like a car. I had no trouble pulling my 6000lb skid loader out of the mud and towing large chippers.
