Overview & Reviews
The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.
Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

High Smileage Red Hauler - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By BK Culbertson - January 13 - 1:03 amThis is a great truck! I traded out of luxury cars to trucks and never looked back. Mileage is very good, comfort on long trips is excellent, hauling ability is terrific, and Colorados fun to drive!! I looked at Toyotas(high price, low value), Dodge(felt like tin, too hard to drive), ford(your grandpas truck, sluggish and sloppy), Nissan(all sizzle, no meat). Chevy built an absolute winner with the Colorado and GMC with the Canyon. As soon as I got mine, 2 friends bought em! Get one!

Fun, Pretty, But In The Shop Alot - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By Mamabug - January 4 - 5:24 pmI adore this truck. Its my first, Ive wanted one for years. Its comfortable, I love the look, the mileage is good. Just didnt expect to have it in the shop 6 times in the year Ive had it. Starting issues, noisy brakes, injector issues, and computer software issues with no fix. Thank God for my warranty. Gets a little sluggish on towing, but I only own the base model. So it didnt surprise me to have to baby the brakes when I have a 950 lb load in the bed. Its rates to tow approx 4k lbs, but I wouldnt pull more than 1k with what Ive got.

Great ColoRADo - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
By TheKevster - December 10 - 10:00 amI love my Colorado. Its the perfect size. It offers room for 5 with enough bed space to haul most anything. It has lots of giddyup with the 5 cyl engine. I have noticed a lot of chips in the paint on the front of the hood. Might need to invest in a rock/bug shield.

Colorado - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Postman - December 6 - 11:06 pmVery good power and mileage. I get 20.5 to 21+ MPG during combination highway and city driving during warmer months. Got 23 to 24 MPG on the interstate. Wheels are a little cheap with a large plastic center piece. A very bullish appearance for a smaller truck, looks tough compared to other brands. Console needs to be enlarged.

Decent but could be better - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By olcrank - December 4 - 11:38 amEverything about this truck is pretty good. Nothing is falling off, it handles and drives pretty well, its good looking, just not exciting. Chevy could make a few changes and have a great truck instead of a bland truck.

Great truck - 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
By Frank Evan - December 1 - 4:36 pmThis is an excellent basic truck! Very roomy & good pep from engine. 3 trips approximately 400 miles ea and I get 25-26 mpg (automatic transmission). These trips have multiple small towns to pass through, hwy speed is mostly 60-65mph. I do not know where the Feds get their mpg information. I have always got the advertised or higher mpg on every vehicle I have owned. Zero quality problems with this truck but only 6&1/2 months ownership.

A true American shops at home! - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By George Bourque - November 25 - 4:19 pmI have driven the 05 Colorado 5cyl.w/auto & 3.43 gears for 2.5 yrs now w/no problems. Ive personalized some w/16x8 American racing wheels that had counterbored to fit 2,5yrs now. Added SS fender trim to existing flares. SS bedrails and caps sprayed bedliner and many more mods. As to performance Ive hauled 5000 lbs manlifts with this truck while loaded w/over 1200lbs of tools in the bed & cab. the tools have in the cab for allthis time and I still avg.19-21mpg. I add Im not a litefoot driver. I would seriously consider in the future replacing this truck with another Colorado. Over the long run this one thing the X-perts are not the best source of info. you should speak to the horses mouth.

2007 Colorado Is Great - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado
By JohnC - November 9 - 10:44 pmIve owned this truck for several months and have nothing but good experiences, except at the pump. The ride is great, 5 cylinder runs smooth, and the transmission shifts perfectly. Im not sure about the reviews that say this truck is underpowered compared to foreign trucks with V6s. Its a truck, not a dragster.I have no complaints on acceleration. This is a solid truck. I love the people who complain about design features, jeez, dont you look at a vehicle before you buy it.
