Model Overview:

The Chevrolet Colorado is Chevy's entry in the highly competitive compact truck segment. Like its rivals, the Colorado is closer to midsize than truly compact. Accordingly, it offers a reasonable amount of hauling capability without the added cost and bulk of a full-size pickup. As is customary in this segment, Chevrolet offers extended-cab and four-door crew-cab layouts, multiple bed lengths and available off-road preparation.

Older versions of the Chevy Colorado could be worth a look if you need a basic work truck, but their four- and five-cylinder engines are weak for this class (though you may find a few examples with a robust optional V8 engine). Colorados from 2015 and later are dramatically better, with competitive powertrains, up-to-date technology features and a spacious interior.

  • I love it - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

I bought this Colorado used 2 years ago. Other than normal servicing, all I have replaced is the battery at 5 years. I drove it home (550 miles) in a snow storm and got 24.0 on the first tank and 24.4 mpg on the second. In town I get between 20 and 21. The work truck the seats are non-reclining and terrible. I replaced them with a used set of very comfortable LT seats. Traction on the OEM General Ameritracs is terrible. I now have 74,000 miles and can not wear them out. I bought two General AT22 for this winter and the traction is unbelievable. Ill buy two more as soon as I wear out the original Ameritracs. Im looking at a 2006 for my daughter this week. Great truck!!!

  • Great commuter/hauler if needed - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Great vehicle for people who like trucks but use it mostly for commuting with hauling capability.

Im usually a fullsize truck guy. I recently bought my little colorado and I love it. I couldnt believe how nice a little truck like this could be to drive on long trips and around town. Im definitely happy with the fuel mileage and the performance. I recently took a road trip through the mountains and I was truly amazed with the power and torque the inline 5 has. The interior has so much room for a truck this size and very fun to drive.Id would definitely buy it again.

Am a senior tired of the expected style for seniors. Love the handling, convenience, selection and dependability of the Colorado. Have the 5 cyl, extended cab which is not avail on the selection for this survey. Love it.

Ive only had my colorado for a month or so, but I love it. No problems at all. Very comfortable, great gas mileage. Cant wait to see how it does in the snow.

  • Great so far - 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

So far I love this truck even more than the 2000 S-10 extended cab it replaced. Ive had many compliments on the color and exterior. I have gone from filling up 7 times a month to 3 on average(though some of that is due to a larger fuel tank). The ride is smooth and the seats are comfortable. The engine seems powerful enough, though I miss the V-6 sound from my S-10. The only real complaints I have are the stereo since they are behind the times and dont have a usb or audio input for an MP3 player. It also seems it could use more interior storage besides the glove box and the arm rest.

  • A Long Overdue Change - 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

I just purchased the Colorado a few weeks ago after driving a 1995 Nissan XE pickup for 14 years. I was reluctant to give up the Nissan because it had been a very reliable and solid vehicle but I was able to give it a good home with a family member. I am enjoying the ride, styling, comfort of my new Colorado. I like the fact that it appears to be a scaled down version of the Silverado. I have the 4 cylinder engine with the automatic transmission and it has good power and adequate acceleration. The gas mileage is pretty much what I obtained with the Nissan about 22 mpg. Overall I like the vehicle and have received numerous compliments about it.

  • New Colorado Owner - 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

I was in the market for a truck that offers the following options: fuel efficiency, room for four tall adults/teenagers, and light duty hauling for the occasional new appliance or household item. No towing requirements. It came down to a choice between the Tacoma and Colorado. As long time Toyota 4- Runner owner (216,000 miles), I became a first time Chevy owner based on the extra leg room in the back, a few additional stock features, and overall price savings of about $2k. I usually keep my vehicles for 10-15 years. The 4-cylinder obviously doesnt have the power of a V8, but is peppy enough for my use. Time will tell if my choice was right, but so far Im very pleased.

  • Good Truck - 2007 Chevrolet Colorado

I have enjoyed this regular cab truck. after reading the edmunds review my resonse is this is a truck not a muscle or luxury car. I average 21 - 23 city. 25 - 27 highway with the I4. it has plenty of power. I had the bed fully loaded taking my sons stuff to Iowa from Michigan. I got 24 on the way there and 27 on the way back (empty). I have had no major issues with the truck. It is comfortable to drive and I am a big person. Plenty of leg room.

  • My 04 has been great - 2004 Chevrolet Colorado
    By -

I purchased the Colorado to move the kids in and out of college apartments. Also to carry bikes and haul small fishing boat. I have the 2 wheel drive with limited slip rear axle. With snow tires on the rear its great in the snow. I just came back from picking up a 850lb trailer in Colorado. I got 26 mpg going out and 22.7 on the way home with the trailer. I drive the speed limit. This truck has been flawless over the last 5 years. Z85 suspension is bouncy if its empty. But with a small load (120lbs)in the rear it rides smooth. The value of this pickup is its reliability and low cost.
