This Year's Model Updates:

Improved manual transmission shift feel (thanks to a shorter shift stroke), black-tone brake calipers, additional chrome accents inside and new softer leather upholstery. Auto-dimming outside mirrors are now available, and a new 12-volt power point resides at the base of the center stack.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • So-so center stack ergonomics, premium price without the premium nameplate.

I have owned Honda products for the past 15 years. I was very happy. I finally made the conversion, and bought my first NISSAN MAXIMA..and I have No Regrets! The MAXIMA is exceptional at every level. I really like the 265 HP 6cyl, which effortlessly and quietly accelerates, with room to spare. With or WithOut all the of Trim Bells and Whistles, it is a Solids Sports Sedan, that I will be driving for years to come. Totally, the best "Bang for the Buck"

Forget the Lexus,Acura, Avalon, this car blows their doors off! Not only is the car less expensive than the overpriced above models it out performs in all areas including looks & dependibilty. Also a very high resale value, pound for pound the best car on the road! Reminds me of my dads old Buick , built like a tank & fast as hell! Great on gas too!

I looked at alot of options from the 300, A6, Altima, and Acura. All had nice style and ride, but as price went up I didnt see much of an increase in luxary. My dealer gave me a flat out price of $29500 for the Maxima SL w/ Navi and all the perks. I feel like Im riding in a really well styled car with great power and smooth handling. Could not be happier.

Traded in a 2000 Volvo to a 2005 Maxima. I bought my car in Jan and have 7500 miles as of July. This car is great!! The SE has a solid ride, great horse power and a roomy interior. I am 62 and have plenty of room.

I have owned 3 Maximas in my life. I have always been elated with my purchases, and I expect to get reliable performance from my 2004.

This is an excellent vehicle. Its styling and speed is outstanding. I test drove many other models, but nothing compared to the Maxima. I would recommend this and all other Nissan vehicles to anyone.

  • Great Performance-Lousy Interior Quality - 2005 Nissan Maxima

I have owned this car for over a year so I feel qualified for an evaluation of this vehicle. The overall performance i.e., steering, breaking, acceleration is remarkable however, the overall quality of the interior plastics is cheap. I have had the rear deck repaired to stop the vibration noise of the some components of the stereo system (it took 6 months for the dealer to repair) and the columns between the front and rear doors as well to the rear deck have been repaired or replaced. The gage that sensors the amount of mileage the cars has until empty is useless because it stops working when the tanks has less than 2 gallons.

Beautiful, powerful car. The inside of my SL is roomy. I live in a northern climate and have really enjoyed the heated steering wheel and heated leather seats. I am a music enthusiast and the 320 watt 8 speaker Bose system delivers awesome surround sound with no distortion. When you need to pass a slow driver on the highway, this thing responds PRONTO! (Its soooo easy to speed in this car; have to be careful.) So many cool luxurious touches; interior lights that fade on and off. A smooth, quiet, classy yet sporty sexy ride that performs and will impress your passengers. I encourage anyone looking at Honda Accord or Toyota Camry to at the very least test drive the Nissan Maxima.

This is my first Maxima and I cant find anything wrong with this car. It is powerful and comfortable. Its also very agile and confident.

  • Vibrations!! (Not good vibrations)! - 2005 Nissan Maxima
    By -

This is our 5th Maxima. Seems like its the first build in the USA. Every one of our Maximas was wonderful. The jury is out on this one. We have a vibration when the car exceeds 60MPH. The car has been fixed twice and the dealer says that were only feeling the road. Has anyone else experienced this? Being 64 the seat is a liitle too small for me but my wife is the main driver and she is comfortable. Otherwise we do like the car.
