This Year's Model Updates:

Improved manual transmission shift feel (thanks to a shorter shift stroke), black-tone brake calipers, additional chrome accents inside and new softer leather upholstery. Auto-dimming outside mirrors are now available, and a new 12-volt power point resides at the base of the center stack.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • So-so center stack ergonomics, premium price without the premium nameplate.

In my opinion you can not go wrong when you purchase from Nissan. The company is top notch and the customer service is superb. I drive a 2004 Maxima SL and I absolutely adore it. This is my 4th Maxima and I also drove a Pathfinder. The Pathfinder (2001) drove just about as smooth as the luxurious Maxima. I missed having a car, so I bought the Maxima the last time. You cant beat the value because the cars come standard with so many great features. The buying experience was good and I feel like I received a fair deal each time. As far as reliability...the cars have been virtually flawless. Go get one!!!!

  • The Four-Door Sports Car - 2005 Nissan Maxima

This car has a bit of an acquired taste. It isnt very pretty when you first look at it, with its big shiny braces, and enormous wheels. It almost seems obnoxious, this one. The end is rather fat, the front is awful to look at, but there is something about this car that keeps you hooked. The inside is nothing to brag about, but whats under the hood, thats a whole different story.

A lot of thought went into the design of this car. Large trunk, excellent legroom and good seating. It is comfortable, has an extremely responsive V6 and handles like a sports sedan should, build quality is first class.

  • BEST SEDAN ON THE MARKET - 2005 Nissan Maxima

This is the ultimate car, its the leader of the pack. The space in the back is very spacious. The 18 inch wheels makes the handling of the curves a breeze. The dual climate control actually works out great because my husband & I both enjoy different temperatures. The space in the trunk is unbelievable. Over-all this is a great car to own.

  • Could be better - 2005 Nissan Maxima

The car is sexy and fun to drive.I had a Altima before for about 10yr. Needless to say i was a lot younger and crazier. I figured if after 180,000 mil the car was still kicking strong with all those doughnuts and corner to corner races, id stick with Nissan. Im a lot older and wiser now so no more doughnuts. I like the acceleration on the car , the second glances one gets from people when passing by or just standing still. The alloy wheels and tires holds well when corning. Over all i feel good about the car for the money i spent. However if when im ready for another car if certain things arent changed i think id go to toyota (lexus)

  • Best Maxima Ever - 2005 Nissan Maxima

Absolutely the best Maxima Nissan has built! I have owned 10 Nissan/Datsuns, this being the 4th Max and I love it. Its got luxury, sport, speed, handling and style. I could afford the higher end nameplates (I looked at a Jag S- type & E-class Benz), but choose to stick with the Maxima. Not only did I save a little money, but in my opinion, got a better car. I will continue to buy Nissan (maybe Infiniti, too) for many years. I recommend Nissan to anyone who is in the market for a new or used vehicle.

  • Problem with frontend - 2005 Nissan Maxima

Fun car to drive and has a great pick up and go but keep having problems with the front end. I have replaced both wheel bears, brakes & tires with only have 58K. still making a noise like the brakes are low when I stop but when I replace the bearings it stopped the steering wheel from shaking.

  • lots of fun - 2005 Nissan Maxima

Great quality for the money. This car has so many bells and whitles that tech lovers such as I should keep themselves occupies. Lots of little, thoughtful touches from stereo controls to design details and customization abilities makes this a well thought out car. Although thirsty for gas, the rocket ability of this car makes it worth the cost. Feels like it could take off if it had wings. At high speeds though I could sence some instability in the rear (in the SL) especially when changing lanes but we shouldnt be driving that fast anyway. I bought this at the beginning of winter so I cant wait to roll down the windows and open the sunroof this summer. So far I love it!
