This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2003 Jeep Liberty, a new overhead console, based on that of the Grand Cherokee, includes a unique interface that allows passengers to program the operation of nine convenience and safety items to their own preference. Liberty owners can now personalize several features, including which doors unlock with the first press of the remote keyless entry unlock button, the miles driven between service intervals and the amount of time the headlamps remain on when exiting the vehicle. Finally, an available six-disc in-dash CD player replaces the cargo area mounted unit. Standard four-wheel disc brakes endow the Jeep with improved brake feel on-road, decreased stopping distances and reduced brake fade. Available electrochromic interior and driver-side rearview mirrors help reduce headlight glare from traffic at night, and standard sliding sun visors have been added, which serve to keep the sun out of your eyes by providing added windshield and side glass coverage.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" as most of its competitors.

I bought this car when I found out I was to have my first child. It is a fun car and drive and an easy transition from a small compact car to an SUV. It did not feel like I was driving a truck. Interior is stylish and fun, head room is very spacious, and I like that is sits up high so you can see much more ahead of you while driving. The only two things I could complain about is the trunk size, which barely fits my large stroller, and the gas mileage. I would have to upgrade to a larger vehicle with a larger trunk if I ever plan on having another child just to fit the bigger stroller. But I love my jeep!!

I owned a Wrangler and Cherokee prior to this Liberty and I am completely satisfied to this point. Fuel economy is horrible but I am trying a Mopar fuel body spacer and air intake system to help with this. I am driving this vehicle in Germany and it is wonderful on the narrow streets and pretty stable at high speeds on the autobahn. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone wanting an SUV but one small enough to drive like a car. The leather interior is wonderful and no complaints about workmanship to this point. I do wish however that American automobiles like this Liberty had a better re-sale value for future purchases.

I bought a 2003 Jeep Liberty because I like the looks, quality (for an American car) and I thought it would be fun to drive. However, I am disappointed in the gas mileage, small front seats, brakes & transmission. The brakes make this horrible squeaking noise and the transmission kind of clunks when you come to a stop. The service department told me nothing is wrong and they will be adjusted by the cars computer as it get to know my driving habits--- SURE!!! Front seats need more thigh support. Gas mileage is awful.

i love my jeep! I had a honda for 10years! I wanted a suv that was affordable fun to drive, and not a wimpy 4cylinder! I decided to go with the jeep because it was just the right size for me! NOT HUGE NOT TOO SMALL!

Fun, safe and comfortable SUV. The Liberty feels very solid yet handles nimbly. Sharp looking vehicle. Only complaint is gas mileage could be better for its size.

I have no regrets after purchasing my Liberty. I understand the vehicle is pretty heavy for its size, but come on... 17 mpg is horrible (90% of my driving is on the highway).
