This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2003 Jeep Liberty, a new overhead console, based on that of the Grand Cherokee, includes a unique interface that allows passengers to program the operation of nine convenience and safety items to their own preference. Liberty owners can now personalize several features, including which doors unlock with the first press of the remote keyless entry unlock button, the miles driven between service intervals and the amount of time the headlamps remain on when exiting the vehicle. Finally, an available six-disc in-dash CD player replaces the cargo area mounted unit. Standard four-wheel disc brakes endow the Jeep with improved brake feel on-road, decreased stopping distances and reduced brake fade. Available electrochromic interior and driver-side rearview mirrors help reduce headlight glare from traffic at night, and standard sliding sun visors have been added, which serve to keep the sun out of your eyes by providing added windshield and side glass coverage.

Pros:
  • Extremely capable off-road, creative interior design, still a Jeep at heart.
Cons:
  • Thirsty at the gas pump, not as "carlike" as most of its competitors.

The car runs well, but it feels bumpy and stiff. It drives very well in snow.

I just picked up my Liberty Renegade yesterday. I absolutely love the vehicle. The leather seats are very comfortable and the interior controls are logically arranged. The seating area is every bit as large as my Ford Explorer Sport was. The exterior appearance is aggressive, without being overboard like the Avalanche. My only complaint was the difficulty in locating a Renegade with the options I wanted. I was unable to find one with antilock brakes in the Austin area and had to travel to San Antonio to find one. It was worth the drive. The 75 mile drive back to Austin was an absolute pleasure.

This SUV is perfect for the person who does it all! It tows my boat easily through the mountains, handles the snow better than any other Ive experienced, and cruises the highway with the comfort of a sedan. The Liberty is the perfect compliment between the ruggedness of the Wrangler and the Luxury of the Grand Cherokee. After 13,000 miles in 7 months, I can honestly say I made the right decision in buying a Jeep Liberty!

Ive had my Liberty Limited 4WD for three weeks now and I love it. Although the gas mileage is not the greatest, I hate having to get out of it. I was told that Jeeps had notoriously hard rides, but I cant say the same. The handling and ride have been very smooth. Overall, Jeep has made a very attractive vehichle both inside and out.

  • Not bad for a 4 cyl. - 2003 Jeep Liberty

I compared the liberty to the CRV, Rav4, and Sante Fe. I was originally going to buy the Sante Fe, but I had a very hard time finding it w/ options I wanted. The Liberty has a bit stiffer ride than the Hyundai, but that was improved once decreased tire air pressure. Has a few less features (like heated mirrors), but it is nice to know I will be able to find a dealer wherever I go. I dont think this is possible with the Hyundai. Much better headroom in front.

  • Buyer Beware - 2003 Jeep Liberty

A nice vehicle, however I have owned mine for less then a year, and it has now made 3 trips to the dealership for transmission problems, and is on its way to the 4th trip.

Comfort-Seats are to high, cuts off circulation at my knees. Fuel Ecomony-Gets 11-14 On Highway 0n Cruise, 1% of my traveling is city, so I would hate to for the reality check on that issue.Approx -250-300 A MONTH IN FUEL COST...(IN ALL REALITY, THATS ANOTHER CAR PAYMENT) Interior Design-No lights in the middle, only the front,or way in the back.I HAVE TO USE A FLASHLIGHT. Exterior Design-The fender steel bolts, Discolor very quickly, and the orange runs down the side of the truck. Build Quality-Nothing more from what you pay for! Reliability-Every time I move from 2Wheel to 4Wheel, the truck goes in neutral, and stops and burns rubber, IF NOT PAYNG ATTENTION.

Not too big, not too small. We needed something to pull our 19 foot boat, this fit the bill

I love this SUV and will probably buy Jeeps from now on. It is fun to drive, very reliable and comfortble. We were not happy with the dealership at all but that has not influenced our vehicle satisfaction.
