This Year's Model Updates:

XLE and XLE Limited models now offer a power-adjustable passenger seat.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride, refined V6, fold-flat 60/40 third-row seat, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, great fuel economy, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • A bit too much lean in the corners, seat comfort and noise isolation could be better, expensive option packages.

  • Careful of Sliding door and run flat tir - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

I have been ok with my mini van, but I would NOT recommend this van to a friend. First I had huge problems with the Run Flat tires- that Toyota eventually agreed to replace one set- after I had already paid for a set- then of course those wore out fast too- Now Im stuck- even though I put on regular tires- I cant get a spare for less than $700!! Brakes also wear fast on AWD, very fast! Next HUGE problem both of my sliding back doors started sticking and giving me problems just two years after I bought it- Now neither will open and Im being told it will cost 3,600 to fix- the car isnt even 5 years old yet AND one of the parts was just replaced 14 months ago, will it just break again?! Owned a Toyota tercel before for 5 years with NO problems & husband owned a Camry with no problems. Too bad I cant say the same for the Sienna.

  • Nice Van but a few flaws - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Toyota builds a fine van but it is a bit pricy and gets lousy fuel mileage. My main complaint is the run-flat tires on the AWD models. They are garbage. No one carries replacemants and they do NOT take the place of a spare. I got a flat on a major interstate and had to get my van towed because Toyota provides no spare on AWD models. It was a very expensive lesson.

  • Shaking & very poor gas mileage - 2005 Toyota Sienna

I drove it brand new off the lot, just to take it back the next day. The AWD has serious vibrations at 30-38 MPH & in general doesnt ride smooth. The dealership says this is "Normal." It shakes bad enough that the dvd screen rattles at highway speeds (lots of squeaking too). I drive 70 miles a day to work - long distant driving. After 2000 miles the electronic gauge says I get 16.4 miles per gallon. It advertises 19-24. My husbands GMC Yukon XL gets 17 mp gallon. The van is beautiful, but functionally doesnt live up to Toyotas hype. Dont buy it. One more thing - there is no place for a spare. AWD models comes with very expensive run flat tires. you cant change to regular tires

  • This van is da best - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Im so glad that my husband and I purchased this van. We had a 2001 Sienna and weve never had any problems. Weve driven this van everywhere and have no complaints. We got all of the upgrades for our van... the kids love the dvd headrests and as some have commented, I love the fact that the kids can watch their movie and I can hear my music. There are so many things we love about this van... too many to mention. We are just very pleased... of course, its a Toyota. :-)

  • love it - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Ive spent at least a month between Toyota, Honda and Nissan dealership looking for the best minivan (price, feel, reliability, confort, drive, power, looks....). Weve always been Honda or Toyata owners (accord and camry) so when we decided we needed a minivan we only consider toyota/honda or nissan...too bad that our american brands (GM,Ford etc) are NO match for nissan/honda/toyota....although cheap at first, always a GREAT deal, their quality and reliability reminds me of Yugo cars of the 1980s (also terrible customer service). too bad, they lost us and many others. i love my toyota, drives like a dream, handles great, good milage.

We have owned the Sienna a short time and have taken on two trips of greater than 800 miles. It has been over 110 degrees in Las Vegas and the air conditioning is able to keep the drivers compartment cool.

  • It looks nice, but has been a nightmare - 2005 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Before purchasing our XLE Limited we had rented an LE for a 3 week road trip....that sold us...into a nightmare. Bought it for almost 40k, fully loaded. All of the features are nice however at 60K miles we are on our 4th AC system rebuild, 2nd center differential (first one locked up at 70mph on the freeway), 2nd drivers door (check strap broke, punch through the outer skin). In short we have had it for 4 years, and spent almost $7000 in REPAIRS (not maintenance like oil changes, tires, brakes, etc). Our case has been review by Toyota several times, and we have been told the situation is normal...both my other cars (Cadillacs) have 170k+, and have cost a lot less then this to keep running.

  • Toyota XLE AWD - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Excellent van, very quiet on the road, features are excellent. Safety features are the best in its class. Engine/transmissions are the same ones found in a Lexus. AWD should be great in the snow. Had 4 other Toyota before, after a total of 300,000 no major problems with any of the can/truck/vans. Well worth the money

  • Fine Van - 2005 Toyota Sienna

Bought used with 92,000 miles; now has 101,000 miles and have loved every mile. Replaced a 2006 le that gave excellent service but I wanted to own one with all of the extra button spaces used so this xle limited awd has it all! Run flat tires were replaced with regular tires so I had to buy a spare but found a new one at a salvage yard for 100.00. Gas mileage has been about 24 mpg but the awd grip makes up for the 2 mpg less that the le. Have had no problems with anything and have taken three 1000 mile trips this summer. The only minor problem was a frozen bolt when I had the timing belt changed but the cost was minimal. It drives and rides superbly and makes long trips a pleasure.

  • Two and a half years and still lovin it - 2005 Toyota Sienna

This minivan is all about quality and comfort. We have two friends that bought Hondas the same year we bought this van and they are having issues with rattles and noises in the cabin. We bought this van new and have put 30K on it but have not had any issues with this van, and am very happy we purchased it. It is an extremely smooth ride, and has plenty of power to boot. Short and long trips are a breeze. If there is any downfall to this van it would be road noise, everything in this van has the quality of a Lexus but the noise from the road could be better.
