The 2007 Toyota Prius lineup gets a little racier, as Toyota adds the Prius Touring model, which has a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, xenon headlights and a larger rear lip spoiler. The other notable change for 2007 is that the original Toyota hybrid car now comes standard with front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags.

By Chris G - June 23 - 2:33 pmYou dont need to be someone who thinks buying a hybrid is going to save the world to enjoy this car. I love it. People say it is the car of the future. Cars should all be like the Prius. I have driven mine for 3 months. It was still in the below 0 temperatures when I first got it in Feruary. I got about 40 mpg. Now that the temperature is 60-70 degrees, I get about 50 mpg. It is plenty big for my 8 month old, my wife, myself and all the attachments that go along for a long weekend. The trunk is big. My wife loves that it makes me a more conscious driver. Speeding kills mpg, so I slow down.

By Iowa Driver - May 18 - 8:13 amI bought the car new. Really ticked me off when it didnt (and still hasnt) gotten the 65/55mpg that it was rated. I get 44-46 most of the time. Really like the storage in the back under the floor. I like the quiet running what I call "Stealth mode". Some things I dont like are how blazing hot the top of the display gets in the summer, the reflection of the light from the dash display onto the windshield at night, but most of all the bad, bad, bad customer service. The paint just peels off of my front bumper and because the territory rep wont approve fixing it (even tho it was still under warranty) they wont fix it. So now I drive around a car with peeling paint.

Just traded my Prius - 2007 Toyota Prius
By John H. - April 2 - 2:26 pmGreat on gas mileage but I traded it because the traction control is AWFUL! Got stuck in the middle of the road 3 times with no power and twice on my lite slope driveway. Not safe in the MN winters when you lose power if the wheels spin. Had all options and everything worked great. Not comfortable though with manual seats, no power anything and no sunroof.

I really thought it was going to be lame in terms of speed, especially on the freeway - the car is surprisingly speedy and fun to drive. The freeway driving is much better than my Jeep Cherokee was. All of the cars gadgets are easy to use and do not distract you from driving. When I finally did go to the gas station was so happy it shut off at $27 to fill my tank. I am used to paying almost $70.

By bud - March 24 - 3:43 amA surprising pleasure to drive. Very fun and REALLY fun at the gas pump. I was surprised at the acceleration the car has. I expected it to be anemic but its quite nimble in daily driving. A perfect car for city dwellers. Super easy to park and navigate in tight spots.

Great Car - 2007 Toyota Prius

We traded in a Ford Escape Hybrid and the Prius gets much better gas mileage and is much quieter and fun to drive. It has everything a Lexus has, for half the price. My wife was in a head-on crash that totaled our first Prius and it did a fantastic job protecting the everyone inside. The car was totaled.

By Wes - February 15 - 3:30 pmThis is our first new car in 7 years. Im a real techy, gadgety type of guy and absolutely love this vehicle. We are getting approx 44 mpg with less than 1000 miles on the car so far. Traded in a 2001 PT cruiser that got a whopping 18 mpg in the city. The gas bill is already much lighter. Plenty of room for the rear facing car seat, stroller, and a full weeks worth of groceries. Its true that the MFD actually makes you a more "speed aware" driver. I dont see any speeding tickets in my future. Im too busy trying to get 75+ mpg every 5 minutes. Highly recommend this car. Especially the touring edition. It definitely looks better than the base model.

first impression - 2007 Toyota Prius

At current gas prices ($2.60) I save $1,300 and was surprised to find it is $250 cheaper to insure than a 2003 forester worth a 1/3 the price of an 07 prius. As far as I am concerned it will save me $1500 plus a year x 5 years = $7500 of the $16,000 I paid. I do not consider myself a tree hugger type. If it were an uncomfortable econobox I would not have bought it. That said I do feel good about cutting my gasoline consumption in half.

Love the car but watch out for stereo - 2007 Toyota Prius
By RmW - January 15 - 10:33 amOverall a great car. I live in Boston and year round I get the EPA 46 mpg. The technology is great - bluetooth, GPS, dimming mirror, stability control - all excellent. Watch out for the stereo. Even the high end has no mids or bass. I had to get a subwoofer and it helped. Also, the traction control for the snow on all of Toyotas hybrids is poor but livable. The deal with poor mpg in the cold weather has to do with the heater. Short cold trips kill the mileage because the Prius uses the engine to heat the car. This requires it to idle and run constantly until it is up to temp to heat the cars interior. So if you want better mileage leave the heat off until the engine warms.

Excellent investment - 2007 Toyota Prius
By janine - December 26 - 11:46 pmI love this car. It has never disappointed me in any way. If you know how to drive it, you can get 50-60 mpg. Dont let people fool you. Drive one and see. You wont be sorry. Handles good in snow and ice too. Best car I have ever owned and I have had lots of cars. I am 58 years young.
