This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Toyota Prius lineup gets a little racier, as Toyota adds the Prius Touring model, which has a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, xenon headlights and a larger rear lip spoiler. The other notable change for 2007 is that the original Toyota hybrid car now comes standard with front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags.

Pros:
  • Outstanding gas mileage, low emissions, generous amount of interior room, easy to maneuver in tight spaces, excellent build quality, reasonable price.

  • Very Happy - 2007 Toyota Prius

Purchased the car Toyota Certified w/50,000 miles. I have put 10,000 on it since. The car has been surprisingly good. I was really afraid to make this purchase after reading some reviews but I am really glad I did. I have had no trouble at all, scheduled maintenance is minimal and I LOVE the gas mileage. Keep in mind it is a small economical car but loaded out nicely it is great going down the road.

  • I love my 2007 GEN2 Prius - 2007 Toyota Prius

I love my 2007 GEN2 Prius. It is an amazing car for what it is. It is now a luxury car, it is not sexy, it does not pick up chicks. However it does cost nothing to drive and is a great car. I use it for surfing, biking, etc and love it. The one main issue is the drivers seat legroom. I am 65 and it didnt work.

I have driven only 1300 mi. On vacation a pick-up left turned in front of me. I had to swerve into the left lane to aviod him and quickly back to aviod another vehicle behind him (50 yards or so) I was going about 50. I do not know if the stability control engaged. The car handled it perfectly.

  • After 20 years of driving, Im in love! - 2007 Toyota Prius

Ive been driving for 20 years. I never thought Id say this, but I LOVE my car! To me, cars get you from point A to B, thats it. But this car is not just a vehicle, its an experience! Watching the fuel consumption graph as you go makes driving feel almost like a game. Im always striving to get the mpg as high as possible, just because its fun. The thing feels like the deck of the Starship Enterprise. Its not overwhelming by any means, but you feel like you are sitting in a car from the future. The seats and cloth upholstery are so-so, nothing close the amazing seats in my Volvo. But the rear legroom is astounding. And my head is nowhere near hitting the roof, and Im 61.YES!

  • Very Pleased!! - 2007 Toyota Prius

Very happy with the car. My wife had reservations about the appearance, but she has grown to love it, too. Very attractive in white. My 13 month old fits nicely in the back seat. Im 62" and Im comfortable. This is a commuter car for me. I live 25 miles from where I work. Been averaging about 48 mpg.

  • 21st Century Choice - 2007 Toyota Prius

With the very first tankful of gas I achieved 51 mpg and have averaged in the low 50s ever since. The car is very comfortable, excellent storage space with the hatch back and folding rear seats. Every function of the car is done through the LCD screen with a constant readout of gas mileage so you know exactly how efficiently you are driving. During my research I had read that this car should be driven with the cruise control and that was correct. You can set it as low as 25 mph and adjust accordingly which eliminates the drivers ability to provide a constant gas pedal pressure. Not too heavy, not too light. Other cars love to zoom past me, but I always win at the gas station.

  • Id buy another! - 2007 Toyota Prius

I bought this vehicle after my 3rd $1200 VW Passat repair bill in 6 months. I fell in love with the turn radius, handling, pickup in the city on the test drive. The inside feel is as if the car has wrapped itself around you in a cocoon of quiet. The first time I pulled up to a stop sign, there was utter silence! I am continually surprised at what you can get in the back with the second seat folded down- it folds flat! I also own a Mazda Miata and I prefer driving the Prius!

  • Economical People Mover - 2007 Toyota Prius

If all that matters is economy...this is a very good car.If comfort on a long trip is important....forget it.The seat has only two adjustments...backward and forward, and angle of the back. The steering wheel can only be tilted, and it constantly makes contact with my knees. Instrument panel is very hard to see in the sunlight and lacks even a temp. gauge. The trip computer has no range position,So you had better not let it get too low.The car also makes lots of noises and does not seem to have the build quality of other Toyotas.A bit of a rattle trap.

  • Time to Put it Down - 2007 Toyota Prius
    By -

I got this car used in 2011. I was averaging a commute of 400-500 miles per week as a college adjunct. The first year of owning this Prius was fun, mainly because of the novelty of going hybrid. Then I got established and didnt need to commute to 4 campuses a day. Got married. Got a dog. I took the car out to camp several times. It couldnt hold up well to our busy and slightly chaotic lifestyle. The hatch rubber handle melted my first summer with it and shortly after the whole back hatch broke due to its brittle plastic. Had issues with the power button throughout. I put only 50K on it. It might be time to let it go.

  • Fuel Economy - 2007 Toyota Prius

Just made a 2000 mile trip. Averaged my MPG and it came out to 55.2. Thats a big Wow!! Drivers seat very uncomfortable for me on long trips.
