This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Toyota Prius lineup gets a little racier, as Toyota adds the Prius Touring model, which has a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, xenon headlights and a larger rear lip spoiler. The other notable change for 2007 is that the original Toyota hybrid car now comes standard with front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags.

Pros:
  • Outstanding gas mileage, low emissions, generous amount of interior room, easy to maneuver in tight spaces, excellent build quality, reasonable price.
Cons:

  • What a Concept - 2007 Toyota Prius

This car is great! It is affordable, not too out of the norm looking and the design of the interior makes you forget that you are driving a small car, roomy and comfortable. During acceleration, there is suprisingly more oomph! then my previous car and of course then there is the legendary gas mileage. It makes you wonder why it has taken this type of technology so long to catch on.

For those of you who have not driven one, you will be surprised. This car has surprising acceleration and lots of space inside. The Bluetooth, MP3 jack and backup camera are a real plus. The downside is the comfort level. The seats have little support, and are not comfortable for drive that goes beyond 45 minutes.

This car is fun to drive and so very quiet. I love the technological advances Toyota has built into this. I especially enjoy the smart key system.

I have owned and driven the Prius for 8 months and have had no problems. Just take it to the dealer for regular oil change and check-ups. It has needed no repairs, just regular maintenance. At 7500 miles the dealer told me that I had 98% of the disk pad left. Thats amazing only 2% used in these 8 months. I do equal city and hwy driving. I have the regular 4 door with all the options except leather seats.

  • I love my Prius! - 2007 Toyota Prius

I traded in my 2005 Acura TSX for the Prius and I could not be happier. It was the best decision I made. I love getting 50 MPG and the car is keeping me from getting any speeding tickets. The Prius is very well built and easy to drive in the city. I love the fact that I am helping reduce our dependance on foreign oil and reducing my carbon footprint.

  • Zippy economy-feel car w/cool technology - 2007 Toyota Prius

The Touring model has good handling (little body lean on turns) and is fun to drive. However, it rides much like an economy car (a bit road noisy and you can definitely feel bumps, RR tracks, etc.) Some interior materials feel cheap esp. fabric and plastic dash/doors. However, there is a lot of cool technology way ahead of the average car. It gets very good mileage, avg. 44, best 50.1. We drive 400 miles on a tank and all fill-ups have been UNDER $30 even w/CA gas prices up to $3.29 gal - ouch!. It also has very good power for small HP engine. Goes up highway hills with no problem, but works hard going up lower speed mountain roads. Next time would buy Touring model w/o any pkg.

Bought it initially due to high travel. The cheap wheels slipped on wet pavement and were jittery. Although I have had no mechanical issues with the vehicle, now that Toyota reputation has gone down the crapper, I have a useless piece of crap to trade in or sell. I will not buy another Toyota based on the loss of value at trade-in. And that includes the Toyota dealerships. You are better served to look at other brands. Plain and simple, dont do it!

I have a 45 mile commute one way, up and down plenty of hills and have been averaging about 47 mpg and the car is not even broken in yet. Three days after we got the car we took a 2,000 mile trip it did excellent and was very comfortable. I have become a bit obsessive about the MPG.

2007 with Option 2, aftermarket leather seats installed by dealer. Car drives extremely well. Absolutely no problems. Acceleration more than adequate getting on Northern California freeways. Love the direct input to stereo system. Climate control very well done. Purchased aftermarket leather supplied by dealer - much better than Toyota leather and did not have to buy Option 6 to get leather. Bought the Prius for my commute (48 miles each way) but my wife commandeered it for her commute (20 miles each way heavy city driving). I have a 2001 Accord V-6 and plan to trade it in and buy my own Prius.

  • Perfect for retirees - 2007 Toyota Prius

We bought this when gas reached $3/gal in Colorado - mainly for use around town. The Prius has turned out to be great for road trips too - adequate power and no problem keeping up with Interstate traffic at 75 - 80mph. With a little care we consistently get 50 - 55 mpg in town, 48 to 52 mpg on long trips. Only complaints are cheapness of interior (with Package 6 leather) and unattractiveness of shiny black plastic interior trim.
