First Impression - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By dandport - August 3 - 2:00 amthe matrix is a nice car. i got the XRS, automatic. shouldve gone with the 5/6 speed version. The RPM is at 3000 going at 70mph, sucks.. should be less than that if u get the 5/6 speed version. Muffler is kind of noisy.. (this could be a plus or minus depends on you... its the kind of noise u find in a typical fixed civic). The only thing is the RPM @ 70mph is too high... needs lower/higher gear ratios which u should be able to get with a 5/6 speed version, although its a manual

Excellent value. - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By jetdoc1 - July 29 - 10:00 amOverall the car is a good value. Great fuel economy. Handles well, accelerates fine, even with A/T. Lots of room for rear passengers, even deceptively so, at least my kids say so. They are teenagers. Like the fold down seats for cargo. Stereo acceptable, but cds seem to skip, maybe my cds? Can start car without headlights coming on by first engaging emergency brake, then start car. Good for night starting at certain places.

Incredible Toyota does it again - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By skrotofil - April 7 - 6:10 pmIts an optical illusion from the outside-it appears that the seating would be "low" --instead The seats are spring/cushy and sit high.(Before I had a Subaru Outback, the seats sit just as high.) Wonderful ride, handling and Fun to drive. The best part MPG. My first ank of gas was a combinaton of Houston traffic and highway miles 30.8 with my AUTOMATIC

Dash Board Problem - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By Mot - March 4 - 10:00 amMy car dashboard rattles when I drive specially in the freeway. I took it to the dealer and they just put some insulation in it. The car still rattles, so I will take it back to service.

Id buy another one - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By sbotero - February 8 - 10:00 amPerfect for a small size family. We are very please with the way it handles. What we paid for it was very reasonable, it came fully loaded. People complain about red lights, I find them very atractive and easy to read.

It does what I want. - 2003 Toyota Matrix
By buzz006 - October 17 - 10:00 amIt is nice to be further off the ground when I step out of the car. I have folded down the back seats moving many things from a snow blower to a tree, to small furniture. It is really nice how flat it does get. I have never really used the tie downs that come with it. I have never come close to the mileage for the city/highway that it is supposed to get. I am at best 4 mpg less than what they say. During the winter around 28 mpg, during the summer around 32 mpg. I drive 1/2 hour to work every day mostly highway. Around 25 miles each way.
