This Year's Model Updates:

The Toyota 4Runner has revised exterior styling for 2006, highlighted by new bumpers, lamps, grille and lower cladding. There are also new 18-inch alloy wheels for the Limited model and a new roof rack and tube steps for the Sport Edition. Toyota has also thickened the 4Runner's windshield and front window glass for reduced wind noise. In terms of new standard features, there's now an auxiliary audio jack for portable devices and power seating for the Sport and SR5 V8, and a seat memory feature and a six-disc CD changer for the Limited.

Pros:
  • Powerful engine lineup, well-mannered on pavement, above-average off-road capability, comfortable and well-trimmed cabin, long list of standard equipment.

Everything you expect from a Toyota, great styling, and the quality is second to none, why spend all the extra $$$ on a Lexus??? The only thing is the gas mileage, however, compared too our friends SUVs its actually good.

I love this SUV. Lots of power, great handling, and plenty of room. Cant beat the roll down back window unless you get a convertible, but who wants one of those. Would recommend this car to anyone who likes to, or needs to spend a lot of time in the car. Also you never have to ever fix anything, and if you run synthetic, you barely ever have to change the oil either. The car is completely awesome.

Recently purchased 2wd SR5 4Runner. What a pleasant surprise! I was about to purchase a Pathfinder until I discovered it required premium fuel. Went to test drive 4Runner and was amazed how smooth, comfortable, practical and good looking this SUV was. Plus the fact that the 4Runner holds it resale value better, made this a great buy for me. Holds a lot of cargo with seats down and my three dogs dig the room they have. They also appreciate the automatic rear window feature. Anyone looking for a midsize SUV... dont overlook this one. Only negative is I wish it got better gas mileage, especially in these times!

  • I love this car! - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

I have had this car just a little over a year and I absolutely LOVE IT as much today as I did when I bought it. It drives so easily. I say it drives "electric" because thats the only way I can describe it. I have not had any trouble with my 4Runner at all except for that stupid tire pressure light coming on, especially when its cold outside. However, its been on ever since I took it to the dealership 2 weeks ago. That seems to just be some problem Toyota cant seem to fix.

  • Great SUV - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

I just traded my 2006 4Runner that I bought new so I figured I had plenty of experience to leave a useful review having driven it 85,000 miles during that time. It was a great car. I only had to perform routine maintenance during the 5 years which was great. I just felt like we had outgrown this car with 2 small kids so I traded it in on a Buick Enclave. My husband had a 1997 4Runner prior to this one and we traded it in with 200k miles on it and he had no troubles with that one either. You cant go wrong with the 4Runner.

  • Why did I wait so long to come back? - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

My first vehicle out of college was toyota, then I somehow went with a Jeep, Durango, Explorer, & Pacifica (dont ask). Finally I wised up and bought my 4runner. WOW- I was really missing it with these other vehicles. Quality of this 4runner is very noticable. The V8 is a must. Not much different on the MPG, and the drop you into the back of your seat thrust is very noticable. This by far one of the most fun vehicles I have driven. It rides very smooth, especially for a truck frame. The nav is easy to use. Love the blue tooth. This is a must be considered vehicle. You will love it

  • Good SUV, Not cheap - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

Good SUV for, the price can get a bit steep to get some options that others are offering standard (6 disc CD, auto off lights, integrated audio controls, etc.) I tested a lot of vehicles, if it werent for the aggresive money factors on the lease from Toyota, I would have purchased elsewhere. Toyota has great quality but you sure pay for it, although the residuals help out in the end.

  • Finally a fun SUV - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

Very happy with the vehicle. Great styling, superior handling for a Sport Ute, and power to impress with the V8, even sounds good! No problems so far, didnt expect any either. Very comfortable, quiet interior, AC and heat distribute nicely, great stock sound system. Could not be happier. Plenty of headroom (Im 64") as well. Combined street/Hwy mileage 19.1

  • Another Happy 4Runner Owner - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

I was initally apprehensive about making the move from sport sedan to SUV, but the 4Runner has far exceeded my expectations where ride quality, handling, comfort and quietness are concerned. Its even more remarkable when you consider how rugged, versitile, capable and reliable this vehicle is. I was amazed at how easily it handled the worst snow day of last season. Highly recommended.
