  • A great decision. - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

After researching and reading consumer and editors reviews, I finally bought an 06 Limited V6 4x4. I have not looked back since. It is such a solid car and gives a great ride. The seats are very comfortable and give good support. I was very impressed with the traction control after our most recent snow storm. Its a great looking truck and everyone that has been in it has said there is plenty of room up front and in back. There is plenty of cargo space for all of my gear, especially with the seats folded down. Gas mileage has been 20.2 mpg average hwy and city, which I think is pretty good. The power is the best part, getting on the gas, it is responsive and sounds great.

  • 11 years in and still a great truck! - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

I bought this 2006 in fall of 2008 with 29K on it. Ive added 130K since and it has been fantastic! Oil, gas, brakes, battery and fluids is all Ive ever had to do. I worried that I should have sprung for the V8, but I cannot think of any time Ive driven it where I felt it was under-powered. I tow a boat with it every weekend and it acts like it isnt even there. The only problem I ever had with it is in early 2016 the rear window defroster shorted out and caused the rear glass to shatter. Cost about $500 to fix it. BUT - In March of 2017, Toyota sent me a letter saying theyd heard reports of this and even though my car was almost 130K miles beyond warranty, they were willing to reimburse me for the repair!! Name me ANY other company that would do that?? Id love to get a new 4Runner, but I am not a fan of the boxy head and tail lamps theyve had since 2010. Cmon Toyota, do another refresh and get those lamps flush again and Ill buy one!

This is a great vehicle. Our first new Toyota. Comfortable, reliable, smooth rider. My kids both want me to give it to them! Im thinking of moving to something like the Lexus LX just for the luxury of it, but would recommend the 4Runner to anyone.

  • Well made vehicle - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

What an improvement over previous model years. The handling is refined like a car with limited body roll but does not sacrifice off-road capabilities. I am 64 and it would be nice if the front seat went back two more notches. The sound system is excellent and the back seats are roomy enough for a large adult to be comfortable. Exterior appearance is similar to the larger brother Sequoia but looks sportier all together. It would be nice if VSC can be disabled when in 2WD. Gas mileage averages 19.5 with combined city highway driving. V6 engine and 5 speed automatic are a perfect combination and provides a good pull through every gear.

Well, what did I expect? Its a truck, after all- and it drives like one. I was used to car-frame SUVs, and must say I miss their agility and ability to handle curves without slowing down to 25 mph! Mine is top of the line, but it feels cheap inside. Ive also been used to German vehicles, and have learned that once youre used to that level of quality, its hard to retreat to the Japanese style of imprecise steering and general loosey-gooseyness in the handling department. Affordability is excellent, but next time Ill definitely go back to a German vehicle that makes driving a pleasure, not something that must simply be endured.

Test drove the 2006 Sport Edition and immediatley sold my 01! What a difference between the vehicles. The 06 is quicker off the line, quieter, more solid and I get better fuel economy. Mine has all the possible Sport Edition options and I particularly like the 6 CD changer - MP3 player.

I just bought a used 06 4Runner Ltd. I love it. Smooth ride on pavement. Went off road and it did great-and I put it through terrain/trails that would break a crossover and strand many other SUVs. The pavement ride is far smoother than any serious 4x4 I have owned or driven, including a jeep CJ-5 Willys, Cherokees, pickups, Blazers and Broncos. The bells and whistles on the limited model make it a real joy and comfort for driver and passengers, especially if they are a family. Comfort on and off road is truly amazing. Toyota cured the two biggest gripes I had about my 98 4Runner-weak engine and too small gas tank. Also made cup holders that dont block the air vents.

  • LOVE this car - 2006 Toyota 4Runner

My wife bought this car new. We drove it for three years and put about 60000 on it without ANY problems other than the navigation system which always seemed to have us wandering in the ocean whenever we drove down I-95 in Florida. It was reliable, fun to drive, great looking, comfortable. We traded it in because we needed 4WD as we were about to move to AK in 2009. We loved it so much we bought a 2004 4WD 4-runner and splurged on a 2008 land cruiser ( both have been fantastic). And the 2006 that we traded in was bought by my father in-law. He was a little miff that we just didnt sell him the car in the first place so that he didnt have to pay the extra dealer mark-up.

Fun to drive, fairly smooth ride and goes through the snow with no problems, the heated leather seats are nice in the Nebraska climate. The V8 has plenty of power

I went to view the 2006 model last night and I am so so glad I didnt purchase the 2005 model. I like the 2006 so much better. The new 18-inch wheels are awesome. The meter gauges are brighter and I love the black-wood trim. Also, the new front grill is nice too. Very nice. Give the vehicle a whole new look. My only complaint would be the little plastic coverings around the fog lights. They seem a bit cheap. Overall, I am very pleased with the new look and will be purchasing one.
