This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru completely redesigns the Impreza and brings a high-performance turbocharged WRX variant into the fold to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to drive a powerful, all-wheel-drive sport sedan without breaking the bank. All Imprezas benefit from improvements in performance, refinement and safety. Along with the Impreza's trip upmarket come revised trim levels consisting of two sedans (WRX and 2.5 RS) and three wagons (WRX, Outback Sport and 2.5 TS Sport Wagon). The coupe body style has been dropped.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel drive, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • No more coupe, extroverted styling may be too much for some.

  • Sports car for the masses - 2002 Subaru Impreza

this is my first subaru, before then I had an M3 and a corvette. After reading all the reviews It truly is a drivers car: fast, agile and sporty. And what a deal I got since I got it at $100 over dealers invoice! With it, I got and short throw shifter, turbo gauge and spoiler. The only thing I got extra was the best radar detector I could get since I knew from the first week Id be breaking the speed limit frequently. Everyone was right about the build quality unfortunately, since from the first day, the drivers side window squeeked, there was a rattle in the drivers side door but small potatoes compared to what youre getting for such a cheap price.

  • What an Upgrade - 2002 Subaru Impreza

i just bought a used 2002 WRX wagon. WHAT A RIDE! got a sweet deal on it. At first I was considering the Mazda3 but I was big on performance. What an upgrade compared to my slow 1994 Honda accord. My commute is so much fun now! Driving in the rain is not a problem with the AWD...so far so good. Filling my tank up with premium gas will hit the wallet hard, but the good outweighs the bad.

  • Fun to drive, not fun to maintain - 2002 Subaru Impreza

The car is fun drive in the worst of weather. Handling and acceleration are good with the 5 speed manual. Its been a good car for ski trips and mountain bike weekends.

Overall a good car. Bought it used and so far have not had any major problems with it. Parts and labor are a little expensive. Not too much visibility from the drivers seat when backing up. Seats not very comfortable.

  • A blast to drive! - 2002 Subaru Impreza

I have owned my 02 WRX for a little over a year now and it is still a blast to drive. It is my daily driver and is comfortable enough to fit the bill. The car never lets me down. If I need to merge, it merges, if I need to stop, it stops, if I need to blaze a dirt road at 60mph, well guess what, It does! I dont foresee parting with this vehicle, even when she turns 100k. I havent noticed any loss in quality or driveability of my car at all. Well, things cant be all good, my only complaint is the gas mileage. I average about 18mpg, and having to use premium fuel 93 octane at $2.70 per gallon; it usually runs me about $40 to fill her up. But then again I didnt buy it for the fuel economy.

  • Shouldnt you own one to review it? - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Seems like there a lot of test drive reviews here, not owner reviews. Great balance of practically and fun (erroring on the fun side). Exactly, what I hoped. I just hope its reliable in long run.

  • Exciting Commute - 2002 Subaru Impreza

This car is great. You cannot beat it with the price. Always wanted a sporty car that is not hard on the city bumps. Found it with this car. The looks is perfect coz it downplays the car yet fun to drive. And also its fun to drive or did I mention that already. Can leave 98% of cars on the road.

  • Fun car to drive - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Quality between this car and my previous Cavalier are night and day. AWD was a nice selling point. The cars only getting about 23mpg overall. After my wifes bad accident, she came out without a scratch (going 55mph in a snowstorm in the mountains). Snow tires will be on our list for next winter. Front and rear seating feels roomy for a small car, but the cargo room feels very limited even with the hatchback).

  • the everything car - 2002 Subaru Impreza

I researched car extensively before buying, and was the only thing in its class for the money. best deal for the money out there,Ive had many fast cars and built many more, this will beat most off the line.
