Overview & Reviews
Subaru completely redesigns the Impreza and brings a high-performance turbocharged WRX variant into the fold to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to drive a powerful, all-wheel-drive sport sedan without breaking the bank. All Imprezas benefit from improvements in performance, refinement and safety. Along with the Impreza's trip upmarket come revised trim levels consisting of two sedans (WRX and 2.5 RS) and three wagons (WRX, Outback Sport and 2.5 TS Sport Wagon). The coupe body style has been dropped.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel drive, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
- No more coupe, extroverted styling may be too much for some.

What a pleasant 1st month,,, - 2002 Subaru Impreza
By Wastate driver - February 25 - 2:00 amI have had two other turbo 4cyl cars over the years and this one appealed to me. The looks are kinda cool and performance is stellar for a car of its size. I ended up with the stereo upgrade by accident and do not regret it, although it is slow to switch between discs it has very good quality sound. It is a little tight getting into for a 62", 245 pound guy, but seating position and interior room are fine. I felt that the smallish front doors were a little price to pay for the total package. The wagon is about 100 dollars a year more to insure than a Ford Focus, not bad for 100 more horses and lots more car overall.

WRX Crazy! - 2002 Subaru Impreza
By ofixit - January 14 - 2:00 amI have just purchased my WRX, due to moving to CA and having my 00 Civic Si stolen. You barely hit the gas and youre gone, I was so used to whining up my civic to 7-8k rpms to get good power. I am super satisfied with the car, I thought I would be a loyal Honda owner forever, but subaru has taken its place. Broke the car in for 1000 miles, then took it out on the racetrack for the weekend, love the way no power is wasted with the AWD.

Sports car for the masses - 2002 Subaru Impreza
By NeoWRXfan - December 26 - 10:00 amthis is my first subaru, before then I had an M3 and a corvette. After reading all the reviews It truly is a drivers car: fast, agile and sporty. And what a deal I got since I got it at $100 over dealers invoice! With it, I got and short throw shifter, turbo gauge and spoiler. The only thing I got extra was the best radar detector I could get since I knew from the first week Id be breaking the speed limit frequently. Everyone was right about the build quality unfortunately, since from the first day, the drivers side window squeeked, there was a rattle in the drivers side door but small potatoes compared to what youre getting for such a cheap price.

By finsprings - December 15 - 6:36 amIve had my WRX for coming on 4 years now. My buddy had one of the old style ones back in Britain, before they were available in the US. As soon as they came out here I got one and Ive loved it ever since. You just cant get more performance, handling and fun for your money.

good value vs. Audi/BMW/Lexus - 2002 Subaru Impreza
By wrx_tester - November 12 - 2:00 amFun car to drive. Noise level on highway as low as Audi/Acura/VW for $5k less. Driver seat comfortable on 40 minute test drive with HUGE side bolsters. Absorbs road shocks well for this class. Short throw shifter is a bit notchy and shift from 1st to 2nd takes some muscle.

WRX is best - 2002 Subaru Impreza
By CB54321 - November 7 - 10:00 amUnbelievable handling. Complaints about turbo lag are crazy, as once the turbos kick in the car takes off. Have left many Mustangs, Camaros, Eclipses, etc. eating my dust since purchasing 6 months ago.
