Overview & Reviews
For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
- Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

Love it, love it, love it!!! - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By LittleJJ - January 9 - 10:00 amI traded in a 2000 Integra GS-R for my WRX and I dont think Ill ever regret it! I love the 04 design even more than the 03, which was still pretty damn cool. The only problem is that when ever I drive some other car, it feels like Im hauling a ton of bricks. Looks great, feels great (especially on windy back roads...)is great.

Almost Perfect - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By tkw - January 5 - 2:10 pmThis small, sporty hatch back is a very fun to drive. So far I have only good things to say about my first Subaru. The engine is very peppy and yet fuel efficient considering this is an all- wheel drive vehicle. A good car to run errands and do other family chores, and even longer trips - ride is firm but comfortable.

Super 4 door - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By tpc01 - December 10 - 10:00 amthe WRX is an awesome car to drive. It has amazing low end power, but the high end is a bit laggy. Great handling and great ride. Mileage could be a bit better, but its alright.

Subaru is a Total Disappointment - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By David Zimlin - November 30 - 4:36 amAlthough I love this car, the biggest problem has been with the dealer and Subaru. I had a synchronizer problem develop, and took it in for repair. I was told that the transmission needed to be rebuilt due to "driver abuse", and that it would cost $2,900. After going back & forth, including talk of legal action, Subaru repaired the transmission free of charge, but said it was only a "gesture of good will", and not a warranty repair. Now, after only 25,000 miles, the clutch is slipping. I am not an abusive driver, I have never raced the car. I am 60 years old, and I have never had a problem with any manufacturer until Subaru.

Solid at speed - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Jarno - November 15 - 2:00 amHave an 04 WRX auto. Very fast and rock solid at speed. Replaced oem tires with Firestone SZ50 - big improvement in handling and looks. Seats look good and hold you in, but not that comfortable for long trips. Some minor problems including annoying dash rattle.Overall build quality could be better. Premium stereo still sounds tinny.

Wagons Rule - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Kindnugs - November 15 - 2:00 am-This car rocks. It has good handling, and a fast motor. It has All wheel drive, and it has cargo space. -So far I have put 1,000 miles on the car, and it has been a pleasure. It NEEDS BETTER TIRES but other than that it is a blast in stock form, plus it can haul a little cargo. Mileage depends heavily on how hard you drive it. -A good reference for this car is WRXfanatics.com, a forum site where you can find anything you want to know. -However you will want to add things to car the second you buy it, because the expandability in every aspect is amazing. So set some money aside for mods and go buy a Rex!!!

Best bang for the buck - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Woody - November 10 - 2:40 pmI did a lot of research before purchasing this vehicle, and my favorite quote was ... no car which costs less than $10,000 more is even worth comparing. Its entirely true. A very compact four door sedan with a comfortable well appointed interior and fantastic performance; great engine sound and power, handling, a total package.

Rawk - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By kaimu - November 8 - 2:00 amIve had the 04 WRX for almost 2 and a half months and one thing is clear...this car MOVES. The cars low center of gravity and excellent handling makes you feel like you no longer obey the rules of physics. My last car was a BMW 525i, and the subie puts that car to shame, especially considering it cost tens of thousands of dollars less. The only other car i could imagine myself buying in the future is the STI.
