Overview & Reviews
For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.
- A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
- Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

Dont bother with the automatic - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Bruceee - April 21 - 10:00 amThe Turbo doesnt kick in until 2800 rpms. If you get an autotrans your shift will always occur just as the turbo is kicking in. I have spent more then half of my life driving, and it has been exclusively in auto trans cars. Despite this I have bought the mantrans wrx. I have stalled blocking traffic in all directions during rush hour. Ive had bus drivers pull along side me open their doors and just stare at me. I come out of this air cond car looking like Ive been in a sauna. Once I master the mannytranny, I think I will love this car.

Excellent - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Dr. - April 10 - 2:00 amWhen I first bought this car--Subaru WRX STI--I was stunned. Its performance is beyond comprehension and has great acceleration which makes this car match up to a Porsche 911 GT3.Its interior is sporty--not to mention expensive-looking and the exterior is excellent and craftmanship is good as well. I was happy with this purchase and you will be, too.

This Car Is Great - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Pre-diddy - April 10 - 2:00 amThis has been a great car so far, and I expect it to continue to be so for a while. The power and acceleration is excellent, (with the turbo providing a fantastic rush) as is braking and handling. Not to mention its 4 doors and AWD suit my needs perfectly. The gear box is great and I love its "center weighted" feel. Also the little touches like the IC spray, rev light/beep and adjustable level HIDs, and Driver Controled Center Diff are all icing on the cake.

Just what I wanted! - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By drk123 - April 3 - 2:00 amI love the AWD. For a small car, it has enough energy to get on to a highway without difficulty.

Dont hesitate to test-drive-purchase - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Nigel - April 3 - 2:00 amI think of this car as an Abrams tank for the Average Joe. It is reasonably priced, bullet proof and has turbine engine-like performance. I feel quite safe in nearly any driving conditions and very much enjoy the reliability Subaru is famous for.

Tons of Fun and Practicality for 23 G - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By LenEun - March 10 - 10:00 amThis is one demonic wagon. Addictive turbo boost and handling that comes alive at speed. You can blast into a 25mph corner at 60mph in rain and it wont lose that AWD grip. Just so much fun to drive, yet theres more cargo room than a CamCord, that is if you dont care for the backseat. Yes, the overall refinment is not up to the 25G mark and its not the fastest car under 25G anymore either, but when you have this much fun and practicality, you have to give up something. So if you want refinement and some fun, get an RSX or a Mazda6. If you just wanna go fast, get an SRT4. But for me, this is the perfect combo of everything I need, plus some more.

I Love it, Wife hates it - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Angus141 - February 20 - 2:00 amI enjoy the engine so much that it overshadows the ride which is poor. But i knew what i was buying. Wife is not auto enthusist(sp) and dosent understand why i would buy something so small and harsh riding. Fine with me.

A Collectors - 2004 Subaru Impreza
By Slaw - January 15 - 3:30 pmI have wanted the STI since it came out in 2004. The price came down a little bit, and there rest the BEAST in my driveway. There are not enough words to describe the STI. But one thing for sure it is NOT a civic, not even in the same ballpark. My thoughts were that the power was going to be like the civic at high RPMs. To let you know, I was very, very, WRONG! The best part for me is trying to keep the car under control while driving under the speed limit. If you have no kids then the sky is the limit with the STI. So please find one that an adult has owned with min. mods done to it. ENJOY IT! and be SAFE! The 2004 STI will be a COLLECTORS ITEM!
