This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

World class performance all the way. Absolutely increadable - I have never been more satisfied with a performace car purchase. I think this car is an increadable value - I have to stop typing now and go for a drive :-)

  • You must have this car - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Ive only had this car for 8 months, but I can already say that I made a good decision buying the car. Definately a good choice to go with the wagon. All the power, with all the versitility and space. I race my mountain bike all over Wisconsin, and have never had a problem with not having enough space. I would suggest the short-throw shifter and arm-rest extension as extras that are well worth the money. Only gripes with the car is the gas milage and the fact that it runs on premium... but dont get the wrong idea, you dont buy this car for the gas milage.

I purchased the RS earlier this year and i have never been more impressed with a car which is an underdog to its cousins. the engine provides good torque and is quick off the line aswell with the AWD.

life is good... when ordinary joes (janes) can purchase a vehicle with this much performance at a reasonable price what else is there to say? the car freakin rocks!

After 8 months of ownership this car has been more than I could hope for. I cant put the keys down. The best car I have ever owned!

  • For an entry car, this one rules... - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I was deciding between the Mazda Protege5 and the Subaru Impreza 2.5 TS. After a month of going back and forth between two dealerships, I purchased the Impreza. Heres why: 1- AWD, 2-160hp (flat-four boxer purr), 3- higher stance, 4-more substantial feel to the vehicle, 5-1.8% financing for 60 months, and, 6-$800 below MSRP. Both cars are excellent, but I feel that the places where the MP5 excels are superficial. Things that are missing from the TS (but can be added later ;-) are as follows: no fog lights, no rear spoiler, 15 inch steel tires, poor cup holder design, sub-par radio and speakers, no light in rear cargo area.

I have been waiting for this car my whole life. If you would have told me even 5 years ago that I could buy a car for $30k that did 0-60 in well under 5 sec, had a top speed of 150mph, 300HP, 4WD with an active diff, 6spd tranny and handling on par with the best, I wouldnt have believed you. And it has 4 doors and a trunk? Better than 20 mpg? Ridiculous. This car is not for everyone. It is loud, with an extremely stiff ride. Maintenence is very expensive. It is also a bit scary. It has limits far beyond the abilities of all but professionally trained racing drivers.

Well I just bought my Subaru not too long ago and I love it. Ive done some mild mods and the throttle response is a lot better than what some of the other reviews have suggested. Its a fun to drive car and it looks good too. If you know anything about cars and are mechanically inclined (even the slightest bit) you can fix the minor squeaks that Ive read in some of the other reviews. I personally havent experienced any of those problems.

Least expensive Viper-type performance money can buy. Incredibly docile and comfortable in every day driving conditions but is always ready for sling-shot-like performance. A truly well engineered automobile that makes driving a ton of fun.

I get excited just thinking about driving my STi. What a great car. The power is awesome but even better is the handling. This car brings new meaning to corners like its on rails. This is my first Subaru and first all wheel drive car and will definately not be my last.
