This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, the Scion xA gets a mild styling refresh that includes updated designs for the lower air intake, headlamps, taillamps, wheel covers and front grille. Inside, there is new seat fabric and the speedometer background is now white instead of last year's silver. The xA also receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xA offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. Finally, the xA's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
Cons:
  • The cool stuff costs extra, modest passing power with automatic transmission, no cruise control.

My car is perfect for city driving as well as road trips. I fit in almost any small parking space and the fuel efficiency is one of the best Ive experienced. This is a great first car for the younger generation because it is reliable, very easy to maintain, and affordable in the long-term. I love it.

I purchased this car after doing tons of research for an "economy" car. This little guy packs a lot of features and is just plain fun to drive! Its great gas mileage is key during these times. This car will end up saving me tons of money! Run to your nearest dealership and have fun with this ride!

I wasnt sure about the xA when we first looked at it since it was so small. Worried about lack of trunk space and comfort with 4 people. Wife loved the look and feel. Once we got it home, I started driving it instead of my Toyota Camry! Its really fun to drive, the car really does have enough room for 4 to be comfortable. "Trunk space" good enough for groceries, no problems with space in any situation so far. A comment on previous posts about gas mileage. The sticker mileage is EPA rated and is always at least a few MPG higher than what you actually get. We have auto transmission which has overdrive button, tachs about 2700 at 65 mph, helps reduce engine noise and improve MPG.

I use my Scion xA for mainly city driving. After driving larger cars this is a great model for moving in and out of traffic. I havent done a lot of highway driving with it, but it has handled well in all four seasons.

I bought mine in 02/2006, and as of 10/2007, Ive put 42,000 miles on it. I love my xA. I have it decorated and always get looks and nice comments. Its been cross-country several times, and its perfect for a 3 to 4 week roadtrip for 2 of us. The front is very roomy, though the backseat can get tight for adults. With rear seats folded down, the cargo space is huge. I get 32 to 34 mpg, doing lots of highway driving, but frankly, it can vary wildly depending on the quality of gas. I once got 10% ethanol in Illinois, and only got 26 mpg on that tank, but thats very unusual. Im bummed that theyve discontinued the xA in favor of the xD. I was planning on buying another xA in a couple years.

Toyota Quality! Fun to drive. A little tight at times, but excellent performance for the price. No major concerns.

  • Good Bang for the Buck - 2006 Scion xA

The Scion xA is a great little car with a few minor exceptions. Its gas mileage has been around 35 mpg, with mostly city miles. I have found the center mounted guage cluster better than traditional driver side. Its ride is smooth with very easy to reach control locations (audio, heat/AC, shifter knob, windows). I am 59" and sit just right inside. It has clear 360 degree views with little to no blind spots. It is perfect for scooting around town where performance is not an issue. I could see how large people could find it a bit cramped in leg/steering area. It has lots of head room though! I WOULD NOT take this on an extended road trip. Its RPMs do get into the 3,000s above 55 mph and gas goes fast with sluggish passing power.

I admit, when I was looking around I didnt think I would like this car this much, but it is fabulous. Maybe it was just my 19 year old Honda Civic, but this car is great. And dont listen to complaints about the ride, it is just fine. Its road feel is great. My only complaint is that the factory tires are kind of lousy, but other than that, I am in love.

What an amazing car! Love the gas mileage 40mpg!Very nimble & corners great!Inside design fantastic, wish cruise control, center counsel & fog lights standard.Stereo great transmission smooth but gears too short forcing quick shifts.Fit & finish excellent, overall a 9.5. If Detriot is serious about becoming relevant again take the lead from Scion. Thanx
