This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, the Scion xA gets a mild styling refresh that includes updated designs for the lower air intake, headlamps, taillamps, wheel covers and front grille. Inside, there is new seat fabric and the speedometer background is now white instead of last year's silver. The xA also receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xA offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. Finally, the xA's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

Pros:
Cons:
  • The cool stuff costs extra, modest passing power with automatic transmission, no cruise control.

I love this car! When I bought it I was unsure about the shape but have found it to be very user friendly. You can fit more in the back with the seats up than you would think. You do not have to worry about gas consumption either. The xA is a very comfortable car for a family.

This is a very fun car to drive. The handling is good and the ride is comfortable. Its not a car you would want if you have a lot of passengers. My car has a lot of optional features which make it more of a cool toy and somewhat of a luxury ride. I think I will enjoy the car for many years.

This has been the BEST car Ive owned. Yes, its little. Yes, its basic. But if you want something that is awesome on gas mileage--39-40 mpg mixed and extremely reliable, this is your car. I have put over 86,000 on my XA w/o any problems. It handles great in the snow w/ decent tires, you can park anywhere and it always started--even when it dipped around 30 below.

The longer I own my little Scion xA the more I love it. Wherever I go people ask me, "What is it?" It is a great ice breaker. This car is the most fun to drive. I love it. I get about 30 - 32 MPG and that is just driving around town in traffic. One man, a borough worker, pulled his backhoe up to our driveway as he was passing by, stopped, and asked what kind of car it was. My 6 1" husband, who had bought a Toyota Tacoma a week before, said he would buy the xA if he did not need a truck. He loves it. This car reminds me of the USA TV channels advertisement: "Characters Wanted." Its for the person who is an individualist. We truly *love* it!

PRos: -Excellent on gas (better than my bfs 03 civic hybrid) -Standard Mp3 AUdio Aux -Sits high which gives the illusion of more space & provides the driver w/false bravatto in traffic -Rear-seats fold down for strange situations that require adequate storage Cons: -Blind Spots -WIde handling on turns -Slippy-slides in rain -Poor AC power (On the highest setting, its not comparable to a low setting on my 03 Saturn Ion) -Low placement of cup holders, similar to a truck (I dropped a tea on the floor of the car, a wk after I owned it trying to get it into the cup-holder) Conclusion: It can provide flat-bed space, low maintanance costs & poor AC power but your pockets will smile!

Great little car if you want excellent gas mileage, good standard features, and way low price. We looked at all the high mileage cars, except the hybrids, and this was the best bang for the buck. Rides smooth, a little loud under full throttle, but that is to be expected from a 1.5 liter moving 2,000 plus pounds. Drives fine til about 80-85 mph, then it starts to be a little too loud from the engine bay. Put in some dynamat and it might be somewhat quieter.

I love this car and have only one thing I would improve on it , the power. It takes too long to warm up and change gears. It handles great and is extremely easy to park. Ive had other compacts with the same engine specs. that seemed to be a little more powerful. The interior fits a short person comfortably, and tall people dont feel closed in. The exterior and style are attractive and eye-catching. The accessories are impressive - only one thing is needed there, someway to fit in a console. All-in-all, I will buy another one if they are around when I need my next car.

  • Brand New Scion - 2006 Scion xA

We have been a Toyota family since 198?. I just got my first Scion yesterday. So far, everthing has been excellent. The seats are the most comfortable Ive ever had in a car. It drove very smoothly and has a lot of room inside and a lot of pick up for such a small car. I will return to re-rate it when I have had it longer. My last Toyota was 11 years old and I put 33,750 miles on it. This Scion is my first automatic. Ive had stick shifts all my life. I kept looking for the clutch, LOL. I am 4 8" tall and I can reach the pedals on this new Scion. I had to add blocks to my past cars. Yet this Scion is a nice fit for my 6 1" husband.

This was my first new car puchase, and I feel confident that I made a great choice with the Scion xA. I drive about 60 miles a day with work, and Im averaging 34 mpg which is about as good as it gets without putting out the money for a hybrid. The size of the car is deceiving from the outside, it feels very spacious inside, even in the backseat. The cuteness of this car cannot be denied, you want to pinch its cheeks.
