This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, the Scion xA gets a mild styling refresh that includes updated designs for the lower air intake, headlamps, taillamps, wheel covers and front grille. Inside, there is new seat fabric and the speedometer background is now white instead of last year's silver. The xA also receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xA offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. Finally, the xA's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

  • Great Car for the Money - 2006 Scion xA
    By -

The 2006 Scion xA is the ultimate car for small families. Its got plenty of room and is versatile for its size. The ultimate experience is being able to get in and out of parking lots with little difficulty, which means a lot for this former truck owner. It is a very solid and well built little car

I bought this used with 18K on it. The car was filthy but cleaned up well and had been used for city driving. I have a new XD and needed something economical for work since I only get 30 cents per mile reimbursement. I get about 34 mpg with this, not as good as the 43 I can pull from the XD. It was good the first 35K, then a retainer fell off the Toyota brake pad and I had to replace the front brakes because they were noisy. And then at 36K the right rear wheel bearing went. Thats way too early for a Toyota. So Im wondering what will go at 38K.

  • Scion xA - The 4 door hatch to buy - 2006 Scion xA

This car is an excellent value with style and comfort. We chose it over the Honda Fit and other 4 door hatch models. There has been too much criticism about the lack of power and ride comfort. While a few more HP would be welcome, this cars performance is well beyond adequate with a ride we believe to be comfortable. If considering one, take it for a ride rater than relying on what we believe was a lazy review by Consumer Reports. CR seemed to mail in a review of a 2004 model.

  • Great Car - 2006 Scion xA

Going on two years with my xA and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Sporty for what it is, great traction in snow and saves money at the pump. Rear seat could use a tad more leg room and fuel tank placement limits space for storage. I do regularly haul two 11 kayaks on a roof rack, and have transported my share of 8 2x4s with the rear hatch fully closed. Everyone who has ever ridden with me has fallen in love with it, even if their initial reaction was negative. In my opinion the xA is better than a hybrid. Cheaper, less complex, no batteries, and with combined driving it easily gets 40 MPG in an automatic. Great car.

  • Love my Scion! - 2006 Scion xA

This car has been so much fun. It handles well, gets great gas mileage, and sits higher than a sedan, so you can see better when you drive. I love my Scion.

  • Wow! - 2006 Scion xA

I just traded in my Toyota Tacoma for the Scion XA, and what a great little car this is. Its a hoot to drive, and it gets better mileage than the Tacoma ever did. The mpg that Im averaging, though, is a little less than I had hoped for, but my XA has automatic transmission.

  • Unbelievable Car - 2006 Scion xA

My last 3 cars have been 2 BMW Z3s and a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. I sold the last car and and bought this car. My wife and I LOVE it. Its fun, practical, dependable and I dont feel ripped off. I was skeptical at first but I cant get over how much I nejoy this car. Granted its no 2 seater roadster but with gas prices the way they are its smarter to drive one of these.

  • Would Buy It Again - 2006 Scion xA

I have never regretted buying my 2004 xA and look forward to trading for a new one. I moved down from an SUV to a sub-compact and I drove them all. The xA was the only one that surpassed my expectations for its ride and drive. I never care what gas costs. It has had no problems and its finally ready for new tires at just over 41,000 miles. I dont miss my SUV as the xA has plenty of cargo space. It is a great value for the money.

  • Love it but whats up with the brakes? - 2006 Scion xA
    By -

I bought the car brand new and have had it for over 2 years. I love the car, but am wondering whether anyone has had problems with their brakes. At 20,000 I had all the pads replaced. Now at 45,000 I had to have the rotors replaced. Im not a braking type of driver. Also, I used to get over 35 mpg now Im down to about 26 mpg. What could be the problem? Other than that, the car has been wonderful.

  • Better than the minivan for gas! - 2006 Scion xA
    By -

The great thing about this car was that it had a lot of features for the small price. I read in this review how many are able to get great gas mileage but unfortunately I am not really able to come close to many of these. For example, just city driving alone I get 25-26 mpg. When I make 1 freeway trip at least once a week, that will jump to 29-30 mpg, so I know the potential is there for greater mpg. Now, even with its "low" mpg, its still a great car. I am almost 200 lbs, plus the local street I take to work, you really cant "take it easy" with the gas otherwise you could get a lot of people mad at you. So it is with semi- to aggressive driving that I get this mpg.
