This Year's Model Updates:

A new 3.5-liter V6 replaces the previous 3.0-liter unit. Larger 17-inch wheels and tires are now standard on the V6 AWD model and optional on the front-wheel-drive version. Antilock brakes are standard on all V6 models. The interior has been upgraded to reduce noise and now incorporates metallic and leather trim. The front seats now have seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual-stage front airbags. New entertainment choices include MP3-compatible CD players, satellite radio and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system (late availability).

Pros:
  • Strong V6, large doors ease entry/exit, spacious cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
Cons:
  • Bland interior, low-grade plastics, inconsistent build quality, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

  • I like Mine! - 2004 Saturn VUE

I like my 2003 Saturn Vue. I like the large doors and sunroof. It rides smoothly and handles very well. I have a V-6 which my husband suggested and I am glad I did. It is powerful enough to get on the freeway and get moving quickly.

  • What is with all the noise! - 2004 Saturn VUE

Our Saturn VUE is a good but not a great car. Mileage on highway runs 34 mpg. Engine performance is excellent. Draw backs: Interior is cheap for the money. This is one of the noisiest cars I have ever driven. Have had it at the dealership 2 times, and still has problems. Sounds as though a train is coming in the drivers door. My 2002 F250 diesel Ford is much quieter than this car. And the resale value is horrible. Purchase a car for $24,000 and drive one year and get offered $12,800 for a trade on a new 2005 Vue. This tells me what Saturn thinks of there vehicle. Would not have purchased this car if I knew what it would be worth after a year of driving.

the vue rides beautifully and is very attractive inside and out. only MAJOR complaint is was not told that tire snow chains can only be purchased at the dealership and was caught in the sierras, donner pass without chains in a freak storm heading for reno on business and had to turn around as no one could sell us chains for a saturn car.

Nice vehicle, V6 very powerful in all situations. Getting on to highways is a blast-nobody takes advantage of this little truck. Surprisingly good on gas. Getting 22 mpg. on the road. Smooth shifting automatic! Plenty good A/C. Quiet ride. Roomy. Good looking.

  • Surprisingly Positive SUV! - 2004 Saturn VUE

We tested the 6 at first, then the 4. If you need to race other parents home from soccer practice - the 6 is wicked.... Hence we sought practicality - landed the 4. Although it does not have the same cargo room as the Jimmy, the pasenger room is definitely larger, especially the front seating area, waist and head room. The ride is more stable than the Jimmy, especially in curves. The four cylinder is not bad. I especially enjoy the gas milage - I cant believe the needle doesnt move when I step on the pedal. My VUE is equipped with a sun roof, power package, floor mats, cloth int., CD - 6 speaker, and exterior mold accents on the lower quarter.

  • CRV Killer - 2004 Saturn VUE

Having worked at Honda dealers for 18 years, when I decided to buy an SUV I naturally looked at the CRV and Pilot. The Pilot was too expensive and bigger than what I wanted and the CRV seemed underpowered to me. I looked at Nissan and Toyota but didnt find anything that was comfortable, reasonably priced and had some power. I read that the Saturn vue V6 was powered by a Honda 3.5 liter engine which I was familiar with as it is the same engine in the Odessy and Pilot. It only took one test drive for me to fall in love with this SUV. I have been driving mine now for over four years and just love it. I am a large guy and I am very comfortable on short or long drives.

  • UNHAPPY VUE OWNER - 2004 Saturn VUE

theres not enough room to write. my vue is just about a yr old w/only 14,000 miles and has been back to the dealership at least 10x for anything and everything you can think of. when i had it a month, it had to be towed. i have contacted Saturn Corp and filed an official complaint, and although they have been somewhat helpful, i dred driving that suv, i dont feel safe at all. i strongly urge anyone to NOT buy it. i am in contact w/a lawyer reviewing the lemon law. its a shame that after a year, i am looking to trade this car in. not only do i regret getting the Saturn, but I also regret that i bought it, b/c i feel like im stuck with it, i hate it!

Wanted roomy 4 door, easy to get in and out of (am 6 3"). Dont need 4 wheel drive but did want front wheel drive with limited slip differential. Honda engine with 5 speed tranny a big plus. Good fuel economy. $4,000 rebate off trade price a big plus. Like fold down right front seat. Is very smooth and quiet on the road. 1500 rpms is 60 mph. Dampens bumps very but there is some road noise.
