Overview & Reviews
A new 3.5-liter V6 replaces the previous 3.0-liter unit. Larger 17-inch wheels and tires are now standard on the V6 AWD model and optional on the front-wheel-drive version. Antilock brakes are standard on all V6 models. The interior has been upgraded to reduce noise and now incorporates metallic and leather trim. The front seats now have seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual-stage front airbags. New entertainment choices include MP3-compatible CD players, satellite radio and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system (late availability).
- Strong V6, large doors ease entry/exit, spacious cabin, comfortable ride, excellent crash test scores, good fuel economy.
- Bland interior, low-grade plastics, inconsistent build quality, noisy four-cylinder, vague steering.

The New VUE - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Obiwan - July 21 - 2:00 amSearching for a new family car, was a battle between pracitcality for my wife, and performance for me. Hondas CR-V, Pontiacs Gran Prix were on our list with the VUE. The VUEs Acceleration and handling was impressive. The fuel economy and overall price cinched the deal. There simply was no SUV on the market with all these perks, for this price. The newest version has had some exterior improvements that really made a difference. Overall, we love our new SUV. My wife feels safe, and can haul all her "stuff" around. Not that I do, but knowing I can go from 0 to 60 in 6.8s, does a lot for my performance needs!

Saturn SUV, Polar White - 2004 Saturn VUE
By MistyTatianna - July 21 - 2:00 amThe speedometer is not accurate. Everytime, it gets to 1,000, it clicks back to 0. It will not show the thousands. How do I know, if this particular SUV, did not have thousands of miles on it, because it just showed 34 when I purchased it. It doesnt have the amenities that my Saturn coupe had, such as fog lamps, which I depend on heavily, as I live in "fog" country. The defroster works great.

Great Value In A Sport Utility - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Dale Chesney - July 4 - 10:00 amI havent seen a better value in a SUV. The Saturn Vue gives you a good sense of security in all kind of driving conditions. Great road clearance, passenger room, cargo capacity and overall comfort. For my family, its our second vehicle, that usually gets picked as the first choice for those trips around town. The composite exterior suggest that my Vue will look like new many years from now.

First SUV - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Beldar - May 28 - 10:00 amFirst the cons: The "sloppy steering" is correct, especially when quickly accelerating or accelerating on a rough surface. Seems like the vehicle wants to float to one side, and when braking hard it pulls to the right (supposedly by design). The pros: good ride, great price/value (heated seats are wonderful for those with back problems) remote keyless entry, power windows/locks, etc. make this vehicle easy to get in and out of (yes, large doors too) and even with all this it was only in the $21-22k range. 24 MPG in the city, about 30 on the highway isnt bad for a 4-cylinder SUV.

VUE holding up OK - 2004 Saturn VUE
By relantel - April 16 - 12:56 pmThe 2004 VUE has held up well over the 3+ years we have had it. (69k on it in 39 months) No major complaints other than Saturn reneging on a warranty repair to the radio (it would not keep time) earlier this year. The 04 has a Honda engine - about the only reason we havent traded it in given our other difficulties with Saturn of late. Rear seat legroom is a bit cramped in the VUE. The audio system (6-disc in-dash changer) is a good one, and the original tires held up a full 60k before being replaced. It could use more than the front airbags, and the rear drum brakes, even though ABS, are a drawback as well.

Happy to be rid of it - 2004 Saturn VUE
By finally free - February 25 - 10:46 amAt 32K the transmission went. Are you kidding me? I was initally worried about the strenght of the 4cyl as I do a lot of on and off highway driving. I was assured that I wouldnt notice the difference from the V6. I was wrong. More often than not the car would stop as I was pulling out on the hw....not very safe. Very disappointing for the amount you pay and the fact that this car depreciates at an unreasonable rate.

So far so good - 2004 Saturn VUE
By Albert - January 27 - 1:00 amI bought my Vue new in 2004 and now have 102,000 miles - almost exclusively highway miles. Overall, I am satisfied with the vehicle. Engine is fantastic - nice power and mileage. I have not had any significant maintenance expenses until recently. My biggest complaint are the brakes - really bad front pulsations that require the rotors to be refinished every 12K miles. Just replaced front stab bar links (very creaky) and right rear wheel bearing/hub assembly - it was producing very loud road noise. I plan on keeping this vehicle as long as I can and so far it has been a nice car. I just wish I knew of a better front brake combination than OEM parts.

Saturn Vue Redline Model - 2004 Saturn VUE
By pleased1 - January 15 - 10:00 amI purchased the saturn vue redline. I love the exterior of the vehicle and the drive. It handles well on the highway. Though the noise level was a problem at times. Hopefully the designers will work on these things for the next model. Overall I do love my saturn.

Good Looking, but!..... - 2004 Saturn VUE
By vicbrum - January 9 - 10:00 amOne of the best Looking S.U.Vs around, but lacks refinament very cheap interior. The four cylinder is noisy and lacks the power of the europeans competitors, the fuel economy is poor and the gas tank small for this kind of vehicle, does less than 300 on a full thank of gas.Strange for an S.U.V. not to have anything for a passenger to hold on to ride, enter ou exit the vehicle.
