This Year's Model Updates:

The Vibe is an all-new model in Pontiac's lineup designed to combine the best attributes of an SUV, a station wagon and a small van. Thankfully, the result is rather attractive and hip, not to mention utilitarian.

Pros:
  • Crisp handling, unique features, utilitarian design.

Great car until the transmission failed at less than 60,000 miles costing me $3,500 in repairs plus grief. No help was received from GM after filing a claim. Ill buy a Nissan next time.

  • Some Good-Some Bad - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

I bought the Vibe because I have had a Corolla with 270,000 miles on it with no problems. Must have gotten a lemon as engine went out at 80,000miles ($5000 and GM laughed at me---never another GM vehicle for me). Also replaced 2 catalytic converters---never did this before on the many, many cars I have owned. Check engine light has been on more than it is off. Noted others had tire problems--so did I. Tire shop said camber was off from factory. Other than the expenses above the car has been fun to drive and gets great mileage---lots of room. I will never deal with GM again, however.

  • Fun to drive - spunky small wagon! - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

This spunky small wagon is fun to drive, has a lot of get-up-and-go! Good gas mileage. Nice appearance with the typical sporty Pontiac look! Comfortable seats, lots of legroom and headroom for those tall folks. Cool navigation system, great stereo, and 6- disk CD changer.

  • If it was a lesser car, Id be dead. - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

I was recently hit by someone who ran a stop sign; t-boned the car, and it was slammed tail first into an electric pole. We walked away from the car with soft tissue damage; if itd been a lesser car, we would have been badly hurt. No side air bags--I LOVED my car. Filled up each Sunday, got me around for the week with 40 miles a day average, with manual transmission. Had a problem with the gas tank, but it was just an annoyance. Car was NEVER a headache. After 6 years, it still had a beautiful exterior, paint held up well. Seats stain a little too easily, imo. Drove well, only had to replace the clutch, NEVER had any serious engine problems. FUN TO DRIVE, just check my mileage, lol!

  • Underrated - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

The car is essentially a Toyota. Due to it having a Pontiac logo on it the resale and general perception is not as good as it should be. Ive owned my car for three years and have had almost no issues. It has been extremly reliable. The only problem is that the stock tires wore out quickly and needed to be replaced with less than 30k miles on the car. I am impressed with the quality of the interior. The cloth seats are much better than that Ive seen in Jetta, Civic, and impreza.

This is great car. It is the perfect size and has all the features I want in a car. Moving stuff around has become so much easier with the fold flat seats. And, the sporty look to it, turns many heads.

  • Spent More time In shop than on Road - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

I have driven the car for only 5,000, but it has been in the shop over 5 times trying to get the Sun roof to stop leaking and popping. I am not looking forward to a winter in the snow with this roof. pontiac are considering a recall because of the poor performance / design. I do not like the way the roof flexes when the Sun Roof opens and closes.

  • So far, so good - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

Bought my 2003AWD Vibe used in November 2003. As noted in the reviews, it could use a little more "oomph" in the horsepower department and the steering wheel is a tad too far away when my leg room is comfortable, but other than that, Im quite happy with it. Getting about 27- 29 mpg combined, and the one snowy day we had this winter the AWD preformed fine. No rattles, smells, or funny noises. The 6 CD changer works great, and the sunroof is a nice add-on that Ill appreciate more as the weather warms up.

  • Great sporty little hatchback - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

We bought our 2003 Vibe Gt with 35,000 miles on it. This model was hard to find! Very few of the higher level car were out there. we have enjoyed it for over two years now, never having a problem. Lots of fun to drive, quick and tight. We added 18" wheels, sporty exhaust, and tint. I hope to drive this for at least thee to four more years. The only complaint is lack of good lumbar support in the drivers seat.
