This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Great Vehicle - 2004 Nissan Murano

Ive only had this vehicle for four months, but so far I could not ask for a better ride or performance. On the highway you want to keep going. This urban vehicle gives a smooth and comfortable experience, above and beyond my expectations. So far; "Real good".

  • Fun to drive - 2004 Nissan Murano

Ive had my Murano for 1 month and 6500 miles already. I spend most of my time driving, and must say this is the best choice out there for less money than lexus and acura. Gas mileage is 24 on interstate and 19 city! If you put it to the floor it will outrun most other cars. I fully shopped before making my decision, drive this before you buy any other SUV. Wish I had XM radio!!

  • some fixes needed - 2004 Nissan Murano

So far not a bad vehicle. Power is good, and nice design. Does have a lot of nice features and a very comfortable ride. Perfect for a family of 3 or 4. Does have some quirks. Bose radio not so great in sound quality, no automatic locking doors, cup holders dont hold different size cups, too many controls on the turn signal and wiper levers, hard to use, no tailgate open lever from inside or remote, inside plastic on tailgate will easily scratch if stuff moves aginst it, and the worst is the gas mileage, have averaged about 17mpg and only 21mpg on a 400mile trip.

  • Good but the body RATTLES a bit - 2004 Nissan Murano

I bought my Murano on 26th Dec, 2003. Its a 2004 SL AWD model. Just passed the 2000 mile mark and there seems to be a rattle on the left, behind the driver seat/door at 20-30 mph. I cant seem to figure out where; it could be the belt system or the rear door. I dont have any regrets, so far, but I will talk to my delearship about it.

  • It rocks - 2004 Nissan Murano

I was surprised to read Edmunds describe the CVT as "power-sapping." In case you dont know what CVT is, there are no gear-changes as you accelerate. Its just one continuous, uninterrupted acceleration. Thats one of the features my wife and I fell in love with (can you say "smooth?"). This is the COOLEST car to drive, and, like almost all Nissans nowadays, it is certainly quick. You gotta give credit where credits due; the Murano engineers did it right with this one. The Murano has enough punch for all but the most speed-needy driver (and I like speed!).

  • In love - enjoying the honeymoon! - 2004 Nissan Murano

This is my 1st Nissan. After 3 Hondas, I gave up on them. This blows away my 2000 Accord V6 coupe with its rattles and cheap leather interior. Also had a Civic and a Prelude SI. My Accord bored me to tears. I was tired of looking at SUVs until I saw the Murano. I wanted AWD and heated seats. This car has so much more and the compliments are nonstop. My only disappointment is the gas mileage. It is not what they claimed. Any ideas on improving this would be appreciated.

  • Love this car - 2004 Nissan Murano

We just bought our Murano 3 weeks ago and I love it. As a mom I got tired of the mini van. We also had Rendevous which was a piece of junk in comparision to the Murano. I actually like to drive now. Nissan needs to promote this vechicle. It is AWESOME.

  • Great SUV! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Ive only owned it for a day, but it feels, looks and drives great! Im very happy to own this one.

  • Great Car - 2004 Nissan Murano

Love the styling, comfort, power. The room is sufficient for daily Dad Duties, including coaching. Mileage is not up to rating, but not by much. Leg room is critical, and ample.
