This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Love it - 2004 Nissan Murano

This was my first brand new car and I love it. Smooth, comfortable ride. Looks great, handles well, big and versatile enough to haul plenty of gear but luxurious enough to look great while doing it. I actually get 22 mpg by doing mostly highway driving, but accelerating slower than I used to - its actually made me a better driver - the mpg declines sharply over 70 mph. This car has everything I was looking for. It handles like a nice car, rides high, smooth, comfortable interior, great extras. I cant say enough.

  • Decent car until things start breaking - 2004 Nissan Murano

Weve owned our Murano for 6 years now and have had quite a few problems. The alternator failed at about 20k, one of the speakers has cut out randomly since about 40k, and I have gone through many sets of tires since I bought the car. I now have 100k on this vehicle and it has been in the shop more times then I would have liked. Fuel economy is unimpressive at 17-18 city and low 20s on the highway. I recently had the timing belt and front wheel bearings replaced. Noticed a burning smell inside and Nissan dealer said everythings fine. Probably wont be buying another car from Nissan.

  • Not bad, but certainly not great - 2004 Nissan Murano

The car will probably lasy a long time and give good service. It is a good looking piece. In side I feel comfortable. It has the same 2 ft deep dash as my last minivan. It has the same reflections in the windshield becaus os this too. Once you get it rolling, it performs well. That 3.5 is a sweet engine. The CVT costs you off the line. And the Economy that the CVT is supposed to give you just doeant happen. Overall a good car. But certainly not a great car. And it has problems that are PARTICULARLY irritating.

Test drove this SUV back in May of 2003 and loved the feel and acceleration. Nissan has done an excellent job, you could call this a work of art with muscle!

Fun SUV to drive. Very stable around corners and excellent brakes. Comes with so many features that Im still reading the manual. Drive uphill everyday and the CVT is smooooth. Love the HID lights. Added an aftermarket reverse censor to help with backing up. The gas/brake pedals are adjustable. Wish the steering wheel can move forward too.

We had to special order it to get everything we wanted. We got everything possible except the GPS and the DVD player. It took 4 months to get it. Which was one of the negative things about it. Once I got it, it has been great. Very confortable with lots of leg room. Plenty of power. We live in an area with high mountains and have no problems on steep grades. I would like to get better fuel economy but it is better than my last SUV. Much more like a luxury car than the usual SUV. Easier to drive. The two things I dont like about it: The doors do not automatically lock and the fuel gauge doesnt have an audible warning when you are getting low.

i find that on long drives i am not so fatigued and tired it must be the height and very supported seats i liked the quietness of the engine hardly any vibration its a pleasure to drive than there is the gas pedal which i found it hard to accelerate smoothly it seems to jump out

  • Mileage and acceleration are fine - 2004 Nissan Murano

Contrary to many reviewers, we have gotten good mileage(18-20 city, 24-26 highway). We have not found acceleration with the CVT to be a problem.
