What a wonderful vehicle! I feel safe, yet stylish. The transmission is awesome - smooth as silk! Mileage is better than an SUV by far! Its easy to get in an out of - rather than hiking myself in and out of my old Explorer! The Bose system is worth the $$!

When I began looking for a new car, I knew I wanted to find an economical SUV. The Murano cant be beat in this category. I drive 25-30 miles to work each day and I routinely get 25 - 26 miles per gallon!! I live in the country and the 2WD model handles great on hilly, curvy roads - no need to pay extra for AWD unless you plan to spend some serious time off-roading. I traded in my Infiniti for this car (do not be fooled...the Murano is an Infiniti-quality car in disguise!). I test-drove the FX45 and the Murano proved to be, not only $8000 less, but better handling in wet conditions (it was raining during the test-drive) and easier to get in and out.

  • Murano best of Class - 2003 Nissan Murano

I have been having fun from the day I drove off the lot. It has also proven itself practically, as I travel each weekend to a cabin, and it has as much functional packing space as my last 2 explorers. I have had it now for a few months and am still looking for something that is not good - but I have yet to find it! It takes me back to when I owned a Prelude - it is that fun to drive.

Fit and finsh are superb. Wind and road noise are surprisingly low, unless any window(s) is down, even slightly, for buffeting is horrible. An open sunroof, even slightly, is extremely noisy, but open the sunroof as a "rear" vent, then the interior remains fairly quiet. Bose stereo is outstanding. Brakes, steering, and suspension are superb, as is the CVT. Engine is responsive and quiet. Setting the cruise control at 75 MPH, with the AC on while going up a steep hill, is no problem for this car. Increasing 4 PSI to tires adds almost 1.5 MPG. Glacier while is gorgeous.

  • Goodbye Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano

I absolutely loved the look and performance of this car. It did not get as good gas mileage as it was rated. Rated 20/24. I got 18/20 only occasionally 22. I need better mileage than that and just sold the Murano 2 weeks ago for a hybrid Toyota Prius. Back to the Nissan...the alternator went out last month but was replaced without incident under the warranty. I had the Cafe Latte interior and it was too light for me. I do a lot of paperwork in the drivers seat and got ink marks all over. The paint FALLS off of this car inside and out. It takes very little (bugs) to scratch especially on the bumper, connector between the hatch and back bumper, and the dash, steering wheel middle.

  • 3500 mile review - 2003 Nissan Murano

After 3500 miles the Murano is still fun to drive. Great for long trips up 101. Environmental controls are the best, sound system is good and ride is very quiet. Still draws stares from strangers and 9 out of 10 think it looks great.

I absolutely love this car. It goes well in the snow, the engine is smooth and powerful accross the powerband. The stereo is great, but all factory systems could be improved upon and no matter where I go someone always asks me about this car.

  • Perfect - 2003 Nissan Murano

I have had this car for 14 months and am extremely happy with it. It is a typical Nissan - powerful, stylish, and reliable. Fuel economy varies widely depending on how you drive it. I got 24.5 mpg on a 450 mile trip in the mtns and 32 coming back from the ski slopes one day. However, if you drive it hard, you get much less than the 20-24 advertised. The Bose is fantastic and it has a ridiculously large amount of of room in it for 4 adults. The CVT is so smooth that it makes it feel like a luxury car.
