Overview & Reviews
Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.
- Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

MURANO - LEXUS RX WHO??? - 2003 Nissan Murano
By LUNATIC_989 - December 15 - 10:00 amCOMPARING THE MURANO TO THE TOYOTA HIGHLANDER IS A JOKE. NOW, KNOWING THAT THE HIGHLANDER IS STEP-BROTHER TO THE LEXUS RX300 (RX330), I THINK IT IS MORE ACCURATE TO COMPARE THESE TWO UNITS. BUT TALK ABOUT BANG-FOR-YOUR- BUCK! THE MURANO ROCKS! ABSOLUTELY FUN TO DRIVE, GREAT HANDLING, GREAT ACCELERATION, STYLING IS THE BEST OUT THERE. A GREAT BUY IN MY OPINION.

What a Drive! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By hrdtop57 - December 15 - 10:00 amThe design of the vehicle is what caught my eye. Looking at the majority of SUVs, they all look alike. The Murano stands out with its "Star Ship Enterprise" design. The CVT makes it a pleasure to drive.

Awesome Car! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Steve J - December 15 - 10:00 amMy wife and I bought this vehicle about 4 months ago and have been extremely satisfied with it thus far. The look is incredible! Everyone asks about it, it is a real head turner. Excellent power from a roll, but a little sluggish from the start. Overall a fantastic car....I cant believe it is not getting higher ratings!

A 350Z for non-Acrobats - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Gregg D - December 9 - 2:00 amLove this Murano. It has style, power, handling, and versatility. Being 64" tall, I can drive this vehicle for hours on end and not feel exhausted (like I did in the Sequoia I traded for it). Easy ingress/egress. Seats are very comfortable. Controls just happen to be where your hands fall. Tunes are superb. The CVT works very well. No downshifts at passing - just the power when you need it. And it comes very fast - no discernable lag. Fairly economical (19 in town, 24-25 on highway).

An SUV with Personality! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By xxxdimension - December 9 - 2:00 amFinally an SUV that drives like a performance car! Cornering and overall handling are great. Plenty of power, expecially from a roll. Could be a little better fron a dead stop but its a tradeoff for the CVT transmission which is a great feature. Gas mileage is great for a 245 Hp engine (Im averaging 20.5 MPG) This is the best SUV Ive driven.

AWD SE - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Tyler_Canada - November 14 - 2:00 amIve put almost 2100 miles on it already, and I love it! The transmission is smooth, the engine is quiet or powerful. The handling is incredible, including in adverse weather. Eye-catching exterior design. I really enjoy the interior styling, the aluminum accents the charcoal nicely. Filled with lots of technology for the price.

Best Cross-Over SUV On The Market - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Mike995134 - November 14 - 2:00 amIt has head-turning good looks ... all positive I might add. The interior is spacious, extremely functional, well- constructed, and has a awesome high- tech ambiance. And the seats ... well they are about the best Ive seen. Very, very comfortable. As for the mechancials ... it takes a llittle while to get accusotmed to the CVT tranny but it is sooooooooooooo smooth. And its clearly evident that there are 245 ponies under the hold pulling their own ... this things flat- out screams. I think the Jan article in a major car magazine called it the "Z of SUVs" ... and that is soooooooooooo true.

More then an SUV - 2003 Nissan Murano
By wbury - November 14 - 2:00 amWe had just purchased our AWD SL Murano during the Presidents Day Weekend. That Monday we picked it up and my wife used it that evening to go to work. We had a relatively large snow storm. It was the vehicles first test for us. We owned an Explorer prior to getting the Murano, so we expected a certain amount of AWD performance. When my wife arrived home that evening from work, she was just elated how well it handled in the snow. She said it cut through the unplowed streets like butter. The ride is so car- like versus the ride we had in the explorer. We love, not to mention the head turns we get when we drive it around.

Awesome!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Chicago Will - November 9 - 10:00 amPicked up my Sheer Silver Murano SL AWD in May... and its AWESOME! After testing driving and extensive research, I decided to trade in my 2001 Pathfinder for it. CVT 245 hp engine is quick and smooth (and quiet). Exterior design is sweet and interior is roomy. People have complained about "turbulence" when moon roof or backwindows only are open, but they have been misinformed. Dealer explained that the moonroof has a setting which addresses turbulence and as for opening only the back windows causing this, it also happens on other cars. Test drive one and youll be hooked (plus, the fact that reviewers compare it to the BMW X5 at a $30K price). Nissan as another winner!
