This Year's Model Updates:

Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.

Pros:
  • Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

  • A Winner - 2003 Nissan Murano

I wanted to purchase a wagon to replace a Grand Cherokee Laredo. We considered Volvo XC, Audi A4, Passat V6 and W8. We test drove and bought a Murano SE AWD without the nav. system because it provided everything we were looking for with no compromises. Plenty of space for the dogs. A strong, proven engine. Comfortable interior with plenty of space. An excellent stereo system. The car is fun to drive. It does not handle like my RX7, but it is equal or better then the wagons considered. The CV transmission is fantastic. My hope is the build quality (electronics and trans.) will stand the test of time!

  • Da BOMB !! - 2003 Nissan Murano

After purchasing many new vehicles this is by far the most comfortable, best handling, smoothest driving, most versatile without sacrificing other qualities, sportiest looking vehicle I have ever driven. I cant say enough good things about it.

I was a loyal jeep owner until my last one started to cost to keep it up/ Went looking for a replacement and the Murano got my intrest. I would like to thank this review board because reading your reviews help me decide on owning a Murano. I enjoy driving my new Murano it has the power i was lacking for passing, the steering is like a sports car and the trans is great

  • Our new Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano

Just got back from a 4500 mile road trip in our new Murano, including crossing the Rockie Mountains twice, and enjoyed it alot. Tried a couple of tanks of premium fuel to see if the performance or mileage would vary, per the owners manual, and it didnt affect either. We did enjoy the ride, and the handling, a nice car.

  • Nice but poor gas mileage - 2003 Nissan Murano

The car is excellent in many respects, but I have two concerns: First, the front seats (cloth) are not comfortable (the angle of the drivers seat is pitched too far forward), and the gas mileage (EPA says 20/24) has averaged about 13 city / 17 highway. Other cars Ive owned have averaged about what EPA estimates, this one is a hayburner.

Great car for the money--not all of us want 3 rows of seats, we are trying to get the mini-van out of lives! I look the look over the square boxes.

  • So Far, So Good - 2003 Nissan Murano

Purchased new SL 2WD 3 weeks ago, $300 over invoice. So far been an excellent experience. Design and ride are great. Fuel economy seems to be improving (after bad start), on 3rd tank, up to 21mpg, but since mostly highway, should be better. Havent found many disappointments, its a great vehicle. One complaint is that it does still have a trucklike/SUV ride when cornering (but this is my first SUV after 10 years w a sports car), SE may be tighter suspension. Overall would recommend to any new crossover buyer.

This is truly a great cross-over SUV. It handles and accelerates like a sporty car. The CVT is fantastic. Gas mileage is great for an SUV, but I find that the city values are below the window spec of 20 mpg (more like 18 to 19). Bose Radio system is good, but the RDS is not fully functional. I have to have a few rattles looked at by the dealership.
