This Year's Model Updates:

The base E320 is replaced with the E350 for 2006. The new model name indicates a new engine -- a 3.5-liter V6 with 268 hp, a 20-percent increase from the previous E320.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedan and wagon models.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • Outstanding - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

We are delighted with our purchase. Picked up in a snow storm; drove for 5 hours in less than pleasant conditions; unually comfortable and very stable in difficult conditions. Quality of workmanship superb.

I am a Mercedes enthusiast that has owned models ranging from SL, S and E classes since 1977. I have owned 4 diesels and 8 gas mosels. This is without a doubt, the finest car yet. The speed and torgue is fantastic, actually faster than the E320 gas model. Combine this with fantastic mileage (37 MPG hwy) great handling, impressive interior and exterior design, roomy interior, large trunk and lots of neat features and creature comforts and you have a 10.

  • Beware of the E Class Defroster - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The E Class defroster has no adjustment. Full temperature only on the windshield and interior of car. Makes for an oven when on. Doesnt cut off automatically. Had I known this, I would not have bought a $55K Mercedes.

  • Fun to drive - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

We took European delivery of our E350. We drove 2100 miles without a hitch. Best car I ever purchased. Car drives like a dream at 100mph plus, yet can be driven gently around town and will please you equally. Ergonomic controls are great. Dynamic seats are worth every penny! With 268 hp engine up from last year, why buy the E500?

  • Great Car! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I purchased this car with less than 13,000 miles (certified). Decided to add the extended warranty which extends coverage to 100k. Because of the lack luster economy I realized significant costs saving when I purchased this vehicle. This is a great Automobile! The ride is absolutely first rate and the safety features are without peer! My wife has a Lexus and there is a significant difference in handling and ride quality. Im continuously complimented on the vehicle. This is my first MB! Definitely will not be my last. Simply put, this is the best automobile that Ive ever owned!

  • E350 is beyond comparison! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

It may sound cliche (and downright corney) but the new Mercedes E350 *IS* the most comfortable, well-built and safety minded car in its class. I have owned a BMW 325 and an Infinity I-class and this vehicle blows away the competition. The ride cannot be described. Quiet, fast when required and a feeling of complete safety. The vehicle is very responsive without feeling mushy like many of the Japanese competitors. Try one!

  • Worth the wait - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

There is an obvious increase in power. The seven- speed transmission is silky smooth. The engine/ transmission can amazingly propel the car from a standstill in jet-like fasion. When accellerating, the car keeps moving forward without any hint of giving up, similar to taking off in a DC-10 or 727, the car shifts to where it never lets go of the forward momentum. Sometimes I could swear that the E350 is a V8, but when I seldom go to the gas station, Im glad its a V6. Theres nothing extra special on the car that the E320 didnt have, beyond the addition of dynamic seats to the premium package. After looking at the Lexus GS, Jag S-type, & Audi A6, I have 0 second thoughts.

  • E320 vs E350 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I traded my 2000 E320 i for a 2004 E320 about 14 months ago. Loved all the new styling, etc. About 3 weeks ago I was rear ended at about 60 MPH. Walked away with just minor injuries. Picked up my new E350 last week and WOW! The new engine and 7 speed transmision completly changed the character of the car. Now you get all the comfort and safety along with a engine that does the rest of the car justice. Who would think 51HP would make such a difference and the extra lower 1st gear makes it snap right off the line. If you are a E-Class junkie like me or thinking of a new luxury sedan, you owe it to yourself to look the the E-350!!!

  • Great Car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Great car in all respects--Mercedes does not understand what a great car they have here. Great pickup, Great economy. Who needd a hybrid when you can drive this?

  • Sore elbow - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Ordered in June after driving 2005 demo. 2006 arrived with no arm rest; roll top desk top instead. After 5 weeks, driven it only about 100 miles. When I go to use it I think "sore elbow," and use a different car. I have a C240 wagon and until recently a CL600. Both had a plastic runner at the bottom of the door opening. This one has fabric - great for attracting stains. Mercedes appears to consider its customers incompetent when it comes to lowering the back seats. An interlock moves the passenger seat forward, after which it might just accommodate a five- year-old. All kinds of hassle to overide this interlock so as to be able to use the seat. Wonderful vehicle spoiled by dumb design.
