This Year's Model Updates:

The base E320 is replaced with the E350 for 2006. The new model name indicates a new engine -- a 3.5-liter V6 with 268 hp, a 20-percent increase from the previous E320.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedan and wagon models.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • Mercedes Refinement and American Muscle - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

There is not much I can say that has not been already said about this car. Recap: Blistering acceleration (stock 12.5 quarter mile), Long distance highway comfort, and good looks for a sedan. The main draw for alot of people about this car is the ability to modify it north of 550 HP. Its easily done with a few add ons and a tune. It truly exemplifies class with muscle. I had mine at the quarter mile track and people were checking it out hard in disbelief that a sedan could haul like that. With the massive depreciation that Mercedes experience, you cant go wrong getting a used one and purchase an extended warranty. Its just the cost of doing business. ENJOY!

  • I traded in a 2003 E 350 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This car handles better than my previous E 500 (2003). The power is virtually the same below 60 mph and it feels more responsive in spite of its AWD. I also have an S 500 and this car is more fun to drive. I road tested the new GS AWD and the M35 of Lexus and Infiniti and this car was the winner.

This was my second MB (C320 first), after owning 4 BMWs (740, 328, M3, 325), 1 Lexus (GS), and a RRover. Ive always loved BMWs because they are fun to drive, but this MB has the cornering, performance and stability I loved in my BMWs plus the gorgeous design, interior comfort and luxury that BMW has been sorely lacking. The car is spacious, both in length and width. The commands are well positioned (seat adjust. on doors) and there are plenty of compartments. Fuel efficiency is fairly superior to an engine of its size. As a woman driver, this car provides m invaluable safety peace of mind; if breakdown occurs, unlimited roadside assistance is a push of a button away.

  • A great car so far in the first 1000 mi. - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is very comfortable car. Lot of amenities and it feels very safe. The H-K sound system is outstanding. I have had it not long enough to make a judgement on its reliability yet, but so far it has been a great car. I took my friends out and none could tell it is powered by a diesel engine. The acceleration is exceptional and the handling are quite sporty. It is also a very quite highway cruiser (reving at 200 rpm at 70mph) and has plenty of power for passing.

  • Luxurious yes, but its no BMW - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

We decided we needed seating for 6-7, but didnt want an SUV. That left the E series and the Volvo V70. The E350 is beautiful, well-appointed and comfortable/luxurious. The suspension and steering, however, are softer than they should be, especially if you are used to driving a BMW with sports suspension (or even an Audi). The Volvo V70 R was sportier in power and handling, and had WAY better front seats (the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in, in fact), but was too stark/dark in the cockpit. Probably, upgrading to the E55 Wagon solves the problem, but for $35k more, thats insane. Come on Mercedes, make it handle more like a German driving machine!

We drove alot of cars and the way a this E-350 drives continues to impress. Not the fastest car mind you (thats the 500) but driveability of this car is in a class by itself.

This is my sixth Benz. All the rest where ok as far as dependability. This 2006 E350 4 matic has been nothing but trouble.I bought it 24 month and it has been in for service 16 times. 5 times for trany problems(leaks, shifting trouble, transfer case problems) 5 times for electrical troubles.(battery kept draining still cant find the problem three new batteries so far) Air bag trouble(2x) , steering rack leaks(2x) and the seat back panels had to be changer (they came loose) and the front power seats jammed 2X .MB is in the process of replacing the car (I am only paying for mileage used) They treat good customers well. First time buyer would have a problem (Lawyer Time )

  • Love It! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I dont think I will ever own anything but a Mercedes now! Its the best! Plenty of room for my family. I cannot believe the fuel economy I am getting! The dealership filled up my tank and I drove on that first tank 723 miles. This has so much power, and looks so slick!

  • Take this car and... - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After 15 months of driving this car, and at least 10 trips to the dealer for repairs for electrical, leaks etc. in the last 10 months I am going to sell it and get another Lexus. The electrics are horrible, and it takes 2 weeks to get the gaskets from Germany for the oil leaks. Buyer beware

  • Great Ride - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Comfortable ride, steering is a little loose but this is not a sport model. We bought this car as a turned-in- lease with 41K miles, we paid a third of the sticker price new, it is a certified used which extends the warranty to 100K. Overall I like this car, however I would never pay $60K for this car new, it just is not worth it, for $20,000 its great!
