This Year's Model Updates:

The base E320 is replaced with the E350 for 2006. The new model name indicates a new engine -- a 3.5-liter V6 with 268 hp, a 20-percent increase from the previous E320.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedan and wagon models.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • BEST CAR EVER OWNED - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I bought it with 4k miles on it. It has been a real joy driving and owing this car. Luxurious and powerful. I get a lot of compliments from people when they see the Panoramic sun roof.

  • Wow, nice car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Picked this up as a MB certified used car and I am much impressed. On paper my wifes Acura RL should drive better, but it doesnt. This car is amazing and fun to drive when ask it to, while at the same time being ultr-lux when you want it to be. The 7 speed auto keeps the car in the highest torque zone in sport mode, and makes it feel like a much more powerful car. Great work, my first Benz, it wont be my last.

  • Fantastic Car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

After owning 3 BMWs, I decided to give MB a shot. My switch was mostly driven by the fact that I needed an all wheel drive car, a feature that BMW had neglected for a while. My first Benz was a 2003 C320 W4 and I loved it. This year I decided to upgrade to an E- Class and I could not be happier. This is the first car that combines the level of cornering, torque, stability, that I loved about my BMWs, added to amazing agility and impeccable maneuvering. The luxurious quality interior is MB dignified. The sleek, but classic exterior is sure to turn heads. Although the price was steep, it was worth every penny.

  • Expensive, but very fun - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I got this car in Feb 2005 - one of the first 2006 E350s to come off the boat in America. I had held off choosing between the 2005 model year E320 and E500 because I felt that there must be a better solution with more horsepower than the E320 but less cost than the E500. Sure enough, waiting one model year was worth it, because the E350 hits that sweet spot right between the old E320 and the E500.

The power and sophistication of this diesel motor must be experienced to be believed. Why M-B does not offer this motor in more body styles is beyond me.

  • It Will Save Your Life! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Faster than a speeding bullet. Finest ride in the world. This Mercedes truly lives up to what the Europeans say: Theres Mercedes and then theres the rest. It is safe, quiet. The diesel sounds sexier and quieter than a gas engine, and the turbo makes it faster. I pay 23 cents less a gallon than I do for BMW guzzling Z4 BMW. Buy this car, it will save your soul.

  • Best in 45 years - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have a 1998 E300 Turbodiesel and it was the best overall vehicle I have ever had until I purchased a 2006 E320 Turbodiesel. The 2006 gets 15% to 20% better mileage, and it has 20% more performance. The lighting is superior, the Nav system works well, and the ride and handling are better than any vehicle I have owned. Mileage is 37 to 40 mpg at 70mph, and 33 to 35 mpg at 75 mpg.

  • So far so good. - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I just got my 2006 E350 4Matic and so far, things are going great. I love the power shade, the quality of the standard stereo system, and the integrated 6 disk changer. The 4matic seems to have a little trouble choosing gears but that may by own perception. I love the distinguished look of the car and the maturity level it portrays since Im only 28 and use the car mostly for business.

  • On my second one - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Im on my second new generation E- class, the first one having been a 2003 model, the first year of its new profile. The 2006 now has a 6-speed automatic relative to the previous 4- speeed, and navigation, which was too new and not yet introduced to my previous car. They dont drive like BMWs, but when you drive 60+ miles a day, this is both fun and extremely comfortable, for your passengers too. Gear shifter seems more responsive than before, and thats not just because of the shorter gear ratios.

  • A fine all around car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

We are getting exceptional mileage, 36- 38 on the road and 28-30 around town. Car is exceptionally comfortable, and my wife (who has a bad back) finds the seats the best she has ever been in. It is a great road car, with quiet good looks. We are extremely pleased with no complaints whatsoever.
