This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, both the wagon and the slow-selling C-Class coupe are history, leaving only the sedan. A V6 engine is now standard on every sedan model. The C230 gets a new 201-hp, 2.5-liter V6, while the C240 is renamed the C280 and has a 228-hp, 3.0-liter V6. The C320 is now the C350, boasting a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6. 4Matic-equipped vehicles get an improved five-speed automatic, and rear-wheel-drive models get a new seven-speed automatic.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat, only available as a sedan.

  • I will only drive a Benz now! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I purchased this car a day before my 37th birthday. I previously owned a 2006 Chrysler 300 Limited which was destroyed in the flood. The MB has a nice comfortable ride and I like the comfort mode versus the sport mode. However, the transmission responsiveness is not my favorite. Also, MB needs to make the iPod hookup, memory seats, navigation and CD Changer standard equipment.

  • Maintenance Beware - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

Extremely happy with vehicle: performance, feel, handling, etc. Very unhappy with hidden maintenance. I expressed early concerns about this and all is not what it seems. 24k miles on vehicle atm 2 services A & B $700 (with discount coupons) need pads $230-$250, rotors $500-$650, 3 Tires (cant rotate uses dif. size on front and back) $270 Each For a total of $2410.00! When i said this is a bit much to service manager for a $30k car was told its normal maintenance. That adds minimum of $10K to cost of vehicle over a 6 yr period thats insane. When I said that the tires are warrantied for 50k miles or 48 months was told not against wear and tear only defects? Beware buyer get it in writing

  • Powerful luxury entry car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

Good balance of luxury and performance at entry and compete well againt other euro cars. I was looking for cool car after driving a Toyota Corolla for 12 years without any problem and got bored. I ended up here after starting with 2007 Camry XLE V6. I am very happy and looking forward to enjoy this car for long time.

  • Good/Bad - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I love this vehicle, BUT it has actually had a lot of problems. My radio has gone out three times, my airbags quit working, and my trunk began to not shut! Im probably getting a new car in about a month. Maybe I just got a bad one of the bunch.

  • German Toy - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

My wife and I picked up her 230 from the factory in Stuttgart and I was immediately looking forward to getting over that first 1000 miles so I could really see what this baby could do. Well, I wasnt disappointed. It handles superbly on the Autobahn and is as quiet at 130mph as it as at 30mph. Considered a BMW, Audi, or Volvo, but were happy with the choice we made.

  • This Mercedes is Junk - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

My girlfriend bought it and at 400 miles powersteering rack was replaced due to grinding noise. At 5,600 miles idler pulley was replaced due to engine noise. Same day sunroof stopped working. My point, its fun to drive, but not really reliable. Do yourself a favor by getting something else. Even Hyundai has better reliability.

  • Very Nice car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

For an entry level Mercedes this car has a lot of features and is very nice to drive. Handling is tight, engine is quick and the turning radius is awesome.

  • 44,000 miles and stuck in 2nd gear - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I have babied this car! freeway mostly easy on the gas pedal ext... first the trans would randomly be stuck in 3rd gear as im driving. I would have to stop turn the key off then restart. I was going to take it to the dealership soon but now i cant even do that it wont shift into anything but 2nd or reverse or park. very very very disapointed in this high dollar vehicle. will be even more so if there is not a recall on this. i didnt blow my bank account and pay cash for something that wont even last me 44,000 mile.... will update soon with my results....

  • Great car for under 20k - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

Bought this Mercedes Benz C230 Sport edition after owning a 94C220 for 12 years. My old 94 didnt age so well, the transmission had issues and engine lost most of its power early on. I had driven a few of the 2006-2007 Cs as loaners and I fell in love with the C230 sport 2.5 V6 automatic. Great change from the earlier 4 cyl Kompressors! I got this car for $19,300 with 22k miles Certified from Motorwerks of Barrington, IL. I didnt have to haggle much either, I bought this car on Black Friday 2008 when NO ONE was buying cars due to the recession. Black on Black fully loaded, and I mean loaded- GPS, 10 speaker surround Harmon Kardon stereo, seat warmers, full power seats, leather, etc

It has most of they features of the luxury Mercedes Benz like they S-class but it is priced reasonably. I just got out of high school and it is the perfect first car!
