This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006, both the wagon and the slow-selling C-Class coupe are history, leaving only the sedan. A V6 engine is now standard on every sedan model. The C230 gets a new 201-hp, 2.5-liter V6, while the C240 is renamed the C280 and has a 228-hp, 3.0-liter V6. The C320 is now the C350, boasting a 268-hp, 3.5-liter V6. 4Matic-equipped vehicles get an improved five-speed automatic, and rear-wheel-drive models get a new seven-speed automatic.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat, only available as a sedan.

  • Retension belt - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I had this car for less than one year, enough time for me to have all sorts of service issues. I was sold this car as a "certified" vehicle which is marketing bs talk for "used" car. In a nutshell, I had problems with the retension belt. I drove 8,000 until the belt had to be replaced. I argued that this is something that needed to be covered under warranty and even the Benz service guy agreed. It wasnt so I had to shell out $440. I bought a Hyundai Vera Cruz at about the same time as the C280. Im on the verge of exchanging the C280 with a Sonata. Ata least my expectations wont be high with a Sonata.

  • Squeak, Rattle and Buzz! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Squeaks, rattles, and buzzes like a 30 yr old Blazer. Surprisingly poor build quality and blatant cheapness in materials. At idle the fuel pump rattles and thumps so bad it makes the car sound like a diesel. Not like the old school MBZ!

  • Nice Car, Could be better for the price - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Bought it used 22K Miles (Paid 17.5K - yeah rubbing it in) Car is fun to drive, perfect for the Driver who wants a sports car which can also drive like a luxury car when you need it. I have always been a Lexus owner, the one thing that stands up when I get into the C350 is the Plastic. Even my 8 yr old RX doesnt look this cheap inside.

  • New 2.5L V6, New 7 speed automatic - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The new engine and transmission is very smooth yet energetic. New granite grey color is pretty. The ride is a bit too sporty to my taste due to the 17 Z rated tires. In C mode, the car starts in 2nd gear and shifts up at low revs. It is very smooth and quiet in this mode. However, it feels like the engine only has 120hp that way. In S mode, it starts in 1st gear, and shifts above 4k. The sound is a bit harsh but you can believe the engine has 201hp. I only have this car for a couple of days. Hope the reliability is good.

  • Didnt Expect It! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I went from an SUV into this C-class sedan, and it has been a great surprise. I feel secure and safe in this vehicle. I never understood what the term "hugs the road" meant until I drove this car. What a fun car to drive. The interior is as beautiful and as classy as the exterior.

  • C55 AMG very fast! - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

What can I say? This car is a dream come true. The power is right there when needed, and the ride is firm but still forgiving. I have always owned trucks, and this car is smooth all around. I still drive my truck for work, and I cant wait to jump in the C55. Everytime I drive it I have a silly grin from ear to ear. I love the fact the car is not flashy, but the quad exuast does give it away.

  • Mercedes Not Worth the Aggravation - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Vehicle was purchased because I bought into the Mercedes mystique that their engineering was a far cut above all others. Not only was that a mistake I found that the required preventative maintenance you have to perform on this vehicle could make you deplete a small fortune. First year cost for preventative scheduled maintenance was about average it is the subsequent years that send you spinning. My average trips to the dealer for scheduled maintenance was hitting me for a bout $600 a pop and they hadnt got to the transmission/coolant flushes and etc yet. Best thing I did lately was trade this dog.

I had a dream once that my Benz will fit me like a glove. This C class is good on gas and sweet with the ladies. The seats are comfortable and heated. You have to test drive this vehicle to get a appreciation of what I am talking about.

I bought this car for myself on my 21st birthday. I traded in a 2004 SLK320 that I loved! Its a beautiful looking car of course just like all the other Mercedes. Anyhow the car had just under 30k when I bought it and now has almost 40k. No problems at all.Tires stink and need to be changed to something better. Xenon headlights I think should be standard in a MB. Maintenance costs is of course expensive but your not driving a Honda after all. I love the ride and tight feel of the car overall. I feel safe and secure.Mine is black on black with limo tint so its pretty sexy. Rims are really nice too. Rain sensing wipers are very annoying but otherwise great car.Benz all the way. Buy one youll love it!!!

  • Enjoyable drive - 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I have owned this car for 7 months now. To sum my experience up: I like it. Love the look (mine is black). The one-hour drive I spend everyday to/from work is enjoyable, relaxing and comfortable. The car is very responsive (for a mild driver), turns corners very well. It feels solid as you maneuver it. I did not like the fact that the default CD does not read MP3 files, which was not mentioned anywhere when I did my research before purchase (fortunately I got the 6CD option). Gas mileage for my first 8000 city/highway miles is around 26.5MPG. Having seen some complaints about Benzs reliability elsewhere, mine is so far trouble-free. Hope it will remain so.
