Overview & Reviews
New body-colored door edge guards are available as an option, as is Homelink and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built-in compass.
- Roomy and comfortable interior, peppy V6 engine, drives more like a car than a truck.
- Weak base four-cylinder, mediocre fuel economy and driving range on V6 models, cheap-looking interior.

04 Tribute LX 4WD - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Scout101 - August 7 - 10:00 amOwned about 6 months now, no problems, peppy and fun, can fit everything I want into it. It rides better than most of the SUVs I tried, not trying to be a truck.

It eats Gas as if there is no tomorrow - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By It is a Guzzler - May 14 - 10:00 amThe Tribute drives well but it is an absolute guzzler. The sticker says 18/23 but it is more like 14/17. When you add in the fact that I only use 89 or 93 Octane gas, and ONLY purchase from a big name gas station such as Mobil or Amoco, I can only guess that the numbers on the Sticker would be reached if you drive in a place called Fantasy Land. Those people at Mazda must have been drinking something when they came up with that inflateable and untrue gas mileage number for their sticker. If I knew the real deal I would have purchased a different SUV.

adequate vehicle - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By bookworm - March 24 - 2:56 pmOverall, not a bad vehicle. Never owned a Mazda and after this may go back later on. NOT very comfortable on lower back for cross country trips. Own 5 speed 4 cylinder engine. Performs ok for size. Shifting can be difficult especially for reverse. Upsides - roomy cargo area, better than average front leg room. Handles well at speed. If you buy a Tribute, go for a v6 engine. Not bad gas mileage for an SUV, averaging about 20/23.

I love to zoom - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Tiger Copy - February 17 - 2:00 amI have to say this SUV is all that I wanted. It is so fun to drive and the V6 has the get up and go! I am glad I got the 2004 model because Mazda is changing the 4WD to all the time 4WD in 2005 and I did not want that. I want to be able to turn it on when I need it. I didnt think I could afford this SUV but I was wrong. The dealership I went to was so easy to work with. Go take a test drive yourself and zoom zoom!

great car - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By gpdorward - January 11 - 2:00 amexcellent vehicle - lots of power and quite reliable. We are very satisfied except for the gas mileage which has been low (at least through 4,400 miles).

Great Little SUV - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By bushdow - December 27 - 7:30 pmI purchased this vehicle in February 2004 I saved thousands on the sticker price. The SUV has performed well. I took it back on Christmas Day for an emmission sensor problem. It is roomy and peppy for a 4 cylinder engine.

Is mine a lemon?! - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By DBB - November 18 - 10:00 amAbout 25% of what weve paid Mazda has gone to the service dept. They recalled something we had fixed over a year ago and we are still trying to get our rebate. The SUV does not come with brake squeelers. And I had it in the shop just 8K miles ago and the brakes were fine, only to find when I took it in for its "every 5K mile maintenance" that the brake pads were so worn that I had to buy new roters. Needless to say, I tell everyone I know who is buying an SUV to consider something else.

I thought it was the best... - 2004 Mazda Tribute
By Roger122387 #2 - July 26 - 3:10 amThis is my second review.. i left my last one a little over a year ago.. I thought this car was great.. I have had so many problems.. the stereo has had to be replaced several times.. my passenger air bag cover keeps popping off, the sealing around the doors is coming off, and the wheels keep getting out of alignment (I mostly drive stricly highway). My Waco TX Mazda Dealership tell me that there are no problems with the CD player (it would never play any of my CDs!!), and then they said the airbag cover popping off was my problem.. after enough arguing with them they finally hesitated to fix it. But other than all of that, it has been fun to drive. Great car for out of town trips!!
