Overview & Reviews
The RX-8 is an all-new car for 2004. Its arrival marks the return of Mazda's rotary engine to the U.S. market. Priced less than Nissan's 350Z, the RX-8 also offers four doors and a usable backseat.
- Low base price, agile handling yet still comfortable enough for daily use, room for four in a pinch.
- Option packages can get expensive, iffy interior ergonomics.

Great year so far - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By Dewey B - May 13 - 10:00 amIve owned my RX-8 for almost a year and I have enjoyed almost every minute of it. In my price range, I could not find this cars same mixture of power, handling, utility, and safety features. Comparatively few of them are on the road, so I frequently get looks at stop lights, as well as many race requests, which leads me to my biggest gripe- lack of torque. Until you get into those high rev ranges, there isnt much going on, but with the positive action of the 6 speed stick, once you get it into the high part of the tach, its nice and easy to keep it there. Overall a great car; lets all thank Mazda for employing more engineers than accountants.

Trading this car this week - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By maxy - May 13 - 10:00 amI bought this car in july, dealer said it would hold its value. Not true! I Will loose 6k for trade, car has under 1000 miles on it.Sticker was 33,235. Poor air conditioning, luke warm air.Cheezy knobs for heat & air.Terrable gas mileage, poor visability when backing up, (posts on the sides are in the way), trunk to high. driver seat does not go up high enough for short people. I am tradeing this car in this week for a Infinity fx35.

No better balanced Sports Car for the $$ - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By rxeightr - April 23 - 10:00 amSeats 4 full-size adults, smooth tranny, great power, sweet sounding RENESIS rotary that loves to be revved to 9K rpm, no rattles after 3500 miles, avg 21-22 mpg, 50/50 weight distribution at 3,100 lbs, and looks fantastic. But the best part is the awesome handling characteristics, while still providing a firm but comfortable ride. What other car for $30K gives you all this?

ZOOM ZOOM - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By Eric Peterson - April 5 - 10:00 amThe RX8 is the car for turning heads. Everyone that comes in contact with this car is facinated with it style and performance. Mazda has done a fine job, even though the RX7 should still be offered.

A few comments - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By mikeber - February 22 - 10:00 amThe RX-8 mixes a long list of qualities, unlike any other car at present: Low price, design, true sports car character, rear seats, 4 doors, easy access to the rear seats, a wonderful gearbox, sporty seats. Actually, it can be consider a mid engine car, since the engine is located behind the front axle.

Fun Car - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By mkztg - February 21 - 6:03 pmThe RX-8 is a fun car to drive. It is expensive to drive because of poor fuel economy and if you dont put "Super" in your tank you will get poor performance too. I have had a few warranty issues come up since I bought it but the dealership has been outstanding to respond to fixing these issues. Great car, I really am glad I bought it, I just wish the accessories for it werent so expensive.

Trouble from the start - 2004 Mazda RX-8
By fracol4125 - January 5 - 10:00 amI bought the Mazda RX-8 several weeks ago. In just under 2 weeks and less than 600 miles the car broke down. It will not move out of second gear. The dealer has had the car over 6 days and cannot figure out what the problem is. I love the car but if this an indication of the reliability of the car I think Mazda is going to have a real dog on its hand. The fact that Mazda has been unable to determine the problem in over 6 days does not give me a comfort that this is a simple defect.
