This Year's Model Updates:

The RX-8 is an all-new car for 2004. Its arrival marks the return of Mazda's rotary engine to the U.S. market. Priced less than Nissan's 350Z, the RX-8 also offers four doors and a usable backseat.

Pros:
  • Low base price, agile handling yet still comfortable enough for daily use, room for four in a pinch.
Cons:
  • Option packages can get expensive, iffy interior ergonomics.

If you enjoy driving through mountain roads at high speeds, this is the car for you!! What a thrill it is to power this machine up the hills and through the turns.

We need better fuel economy! My 91 MR-2 Turbo gets better than the RX - 21 MPG. Rear seat is great for a 56 person but no taller with me at 61. I can not wait until someone comes out with a supercharger or turbo for this moderate 238 HP 215 torq dream car. The handeling is great if not true to a sports car handeling. Looks are its forte, smooth and unique. I would buy again if I had the choice.

I just got this car a month or two ago, I love everything about it but the gas. The gas is just horrible. I feel like everyday I am putting gas in it. I love how it drives, its real comfortable, everything is in reach. This is my first car and I dont think I would ever trade it in. (Well only if they would get better MPG.)

I JUST GOT MY RX-8 ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. I JUST LOVE IT. THE GAS MILAGE SUCKS BUT WHY BUT A 30,000.00 CAR AND THEN WORRY ABOUT GAS MILAGE? THE ATTENTION THAT YOU WILL RECIEVE IS SO FUNNY, PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE DRIVEING SOMETHING FROM THE NEXT WORLD. GOT TO HAVE MY ZOOM-ZOOM MBUSH

  • Most fun for the money - 2004 Mazda RX-8

Most fun car Ive ever owned. Comment from my friend: "I havent had such good handling since riding in an NSX." Not too punishing in daily driving, and handles like a dream. Accelerates decently when pushed, but I didnt buy it to be a stoplight racer. The front drink holders are in a somewhat awkward location where drinks can be bumped while shifting. The handbrake could be smaller and less pronounced. Minor fit and finish detail flaws which the dealer has already promised to fix.

  • May not start after short distance drive - 2004 Mazda RX-8

Its a cutie but if you drive short distances, this may not be the car for you. It may not start if it hasnt warmed up or been driven for less than 5 minutes. One suggestion Ive just read is to rev it up to 4000, and turn the key off while its reving. Excess fule will be removed from the fuel pump and in

  • my opinion on the 8 - 2004 Mazda RX-8

I have had the car 1 month and have put about 1000 miles on it. It is a very nice sports car. Since it has a few miles on it I am exploring the upper rev band and its plenty fast for me. It has a few blind spots in and you have to pay close attention with lane changes on the freeway. The air conditioner is also weak for a high temp area. I am concerned since with depreciation now Mazda has announced it will buy back the first 3000 rx8s from dissatisfied customers because of the misstated horsepower numbers.I think I will keep the car and accept the $500.00 offer along with the free maintanence offer instead. But I have until Oct 1 the make up my mind.

  • Mazda RX-8 A practical sports car - 2004 Mazda RX-8

I really enjoy this car. It drives like a much more expensive sports car. The car is small but with plenty of room inside. Im 63" and used to drive a Town Car.

  • best car Ive ever owned - 2004 Mazda RX-8

I knew this was a sports car when I bought it and was willing to put up with a few rough edges. About the only concern Ive had is the high performance SUMMER tires it comes with - they are totally worthless in the winter! Mileage is a bit lower than we get with our Mazda 3 but performance is awesome. No quality or engine problems and the dealer has even been a pleasant surprise.

  • Great Sports car - 2004 Mazda RX-8

The car is a delight to drive. The steering feel is very good. The brakes allow you to break late in a corner. I find the seats supportive and comfortable. The six speed manual is easy to shift.
