  • The SX is awesome - 2011 Kia Sorento

Kia did it right again! I had an 05EX and loved it. The SX has everything my EX was missing. I have the SX FWD with everything except AWD and sunroof. I plan on enjoying at least 5-7 years with my SX before I trade it in for the next generation Sorento again! GO KIA! Keep up the good work!

Ok, I feel the 4cyl is not an adequate engine for this SUV. The six speed transmission is down shifting all the time at all speeds just to keep this vehicle at 55-60 mph. Which in return makes this vehicle use a lot of gas. I was told at the dealership, "let it get 1000-2000 miles on it and it would get better". Ok it just rolled over to 5000 miles and the mileage is just as bad. So the dealership tells me now,"it will get better at around 7000- 8000 miles". REALLY NOW how much longer are they gonna make excuses for putting an inadequate engine into this SUV. But that is really my only complaint with this SUV. I shouldve gone with the V-6 model or another make.

  • having trouble - 2011 Kia Sorento

I bought my car not even 2 years ago and I have had to have it towed 3 times already for 3 different reasons, first reason was something with the computers the car would just not start and everything locked up when I went to start it, second reason was because there were loose wires in the care, it shut off on me at a gas station, I went inside to pay for the gas when I came out it would not start and now they are saying that there are problems with the starter. we bought this car so that we would not have to worry about these issues and we thought a new car would be reliable but so far my husbands car bought in 2002 has been the reliable car :( were prob going to end up trading in the car.

  • transmission went kapoof at 25k miles - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Car: 2011 base model, 4cyl. Transmission went kapoof at 25k miles. I rolled it into a stop sign then suddenly, loud grinding sound and the car wont move anymore. The engine still runs but car wont move. Towed it to the dealer and they replaced the transmission (for free) under warranty. It took them 4 days to fix. No loaner/rental car was provided..."it is not in KIAs policy" The car was never driven hard. I hope a recall would be issued regarding the transmission problem that people are having. When that warranty runs out....watch out $$$ One of the tire pressure sensor keeps leaking air. The seal on the valve is crap. Fix: replaced it with a traditional non-tps valve.

  • New to Kia....Left Toyota far behind! - 2011 Kia Sorento

I have been a long time Toyota purchaser, but decided to jump over to Kia and its warranty. What a pleasant surprise! I was immediately impressed by the power and styling of this vehicle. Lots of gadgets and bang for your buck. Handling is great and it;s real easy to park with the backup camera. My initial impressions exceeded any Toyota I have purchased in the past(including the 4Runner). There was a little "break-in" period. It seemed like there was a little "bouncing/vibrating" coming from the tires. It may have been just me looking for something, but it was completely gone within the first 50 mile of its life. I rated the reliabilty as an 8,since its brand new and only time will tell.

  • Almost a year now...... - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Well, its been almost a year now (and about 27,000 miles), so here is my homest take on the 11 Sorento EX 4 cyl AWD.... MPG - From all the posts Ive read it seems that I am not alone in reporting sub-advertised MPG. My 40-mile daily commute results in no better than 21 mpg on a consistant basis. This was a major selling point to me. Even an all-highway trip to/from Florida from Ohio only saw 24 mpg at best. Suspension - having been a service writer for a Ford dealership, I know suspension issues when I hear them. I hear them with this car. Apparently, I am the only one who hears them. Service department cannot confirm the loosness in the front end. Hmmmm. More soon....

  • Love My Sorento - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

I traded down from an Expedition EL Limited to the Sorento SX and I would NEVER go back. I love it. I wanted something with 3 rows but with better gas mileage. I test drove everything under the sun before finding this one. It is so fun to drive, but watch your speed, I got pulled over within two days. I learned very quickly to use the cruise. I love the red lighting, sunroof, sound system, and especially the bluetooth. I also love the push button start. I never have to get my keys out of my purse. MPG is just as described on sticker. I have had no problems and would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

  • Poor fuel economy - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

I went in to buy a Subaru Outback, but I was impressed by the styling of the Kia. So I ended up buying the Sorento. I thought I was going to get a car with fuel efficiency, but I am sadly disappointed. I am supposed to average 27 miles per gallon/highway, but am only getting 21 miles per gallon/highway. Since I drive 450 miles/week highway, it seems all I do is gas up the car. I am still impressed by the interior and exterior the car, and I love the Sirius. Its too soon to give a true evaluation of the reliability. I must honestly say I regret not buying the Subaru, because fuel economy was crucial for me.

  • Not good at all - 2011 Kia Sorento
    By -

Drive far on a daily basis due to job location. Have had this car for about 7 months. In may the car would not start at all. Had to be towed to the dealership! Apparently a loose cable came loose and had to be tighten. July. Car back in dealership car turned off while in motion. No I did not put in neutral it was in drive and the car turned off. Dealership cant find anything wrong. Sorry Kia better luck next time! Safety is a big concern!
