This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Love my Van - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I cannot understand all the complaints about the Odyssey. I previously had 2 different Chrysler vans and this Odyssey beats anything I had with Chrysler. I have had not brake problems, no tire troubles, nothing. I am religious about oil changes and routine mileage servicing. I would buy another Odyssey in a minute! Drives like a dream!

One of the most reliable vehicles we have ever owned. It has been a pleasure to own.

I bought the van new and have had it over four years and put 75000 miles on it. I have had the power steering pump replaced once and it still groans and growls. The brakes grate and make noise, but always work. Ive had them checked out, but they say theyre alright. The van performs flawlessly otherwise. It really likes to go, and dare I say it is "fun" to drive. My teenager likes to drive it. I have a difficult time keeping it under 90mph. I drove the Sienna and it seemed under powered and soft. Gas mileage is good for a large vehicle at 21 city and 25 highway. Lots of room and with a whole lot of storage space make it a great car for traveling. I would buy it again.

  • Fits Our Family of 6 - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We were not looking for a Honda. We test drove Town & Country & Grand Caravan. They were too small. We have 2 teens, a preteen & a 5 year old. When looking at vans, I happen to see an Odyssey sitting by a Town & Country. We took it for a spin & loved it. With leather, navi, dvd & more it had all we wanted plus extra storage room. The feel of this van is great and it drives like a dream. This is a 4 year old van, however, it rides and looks like a new van. We love it!

  • Good, Bad and Ugly Part II, or III - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This is our second Odyssey, so we are a fan! But it has its flaw too. Although I love my van, tires seem to wear very fast, I was told there has been numerous people complaining about it, then it was the rear engine mount that I had to replace today, $700, ouch!!! Expensive part, and I dont recall ever had to replace engine mount in any other of my vehicles, two of which were mini van. Then, along with the tires, it was the alignment, because tires were wearing different even though I was good at rotating them, I am wondering if there is anything to do with alignment ability.

  • Great minivan - 2006 Honda Odyssey

More expensive compared to other minivan but its worth it. Considered Sienna but I preferred a sharper handling and more standard safety features like Side curtain airbags with roll-over sensor, Stability control etc. Kia Sedona but Honda has an excellent resale value, proven reliability and cheaper insurance for us.

  • Greatness - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This car is amazing, I actually like taking this car out, and Im only 18, it drives very well. I was recently with a big group of friends and we wouldve had to call up a 3rd car if it wasnt for the Odyssey... it hauled the required 8 people with ease. I was very pleased. The car is far more planted and composed than the Pilot that I usually drive, its very sure of itself, it has good grip. My friends seem to love the car as well, they find it very comfortable, as do I. It is a road trip maestro. However the brakes are a little wonky compared to the Pilot, the pedal travel is far too long, and it stinks when it comes time to park this thing because its so big, vs. the just stick it Pilot.

  • Very impressed ! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The 2006 EX-L RES/NAV Odyssey is one of the best things that our family purchased. I looked at the Toyota and would have purchased it, but the comparibly equipped Sienna came in about $2500 higher than the Odyssey. I purchased a 7 year 120k extended warranty online at an excellent price because of all the electronic gizmos that the Odyssey offers. Only time will tell on reliability. Mileage has been 16-18 in the city with 22-23 on the highway. That is with four family members and a load of stuff to support to small kids.

  • My First Minivan - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Even though weve only owned this Van for 1 tank of gas, the wife and I love it already. The odyseey has great acceleration when called upon. I looked at the Sedona and Entourage but I came back to the Odyseey for the exterior good lucks, and the classier interior vs the others. I liked the 2007 Nissan Quest, now that they have moved the instrument cluster back in front of the driver, but it was very pricey compared to the Odyssey EX. Unlike others, im perfectly happy with the gas mileage. We got 22mpg from our first tank and Im sure that will improve over time. In my opinion this is by far the best looking minivan both inside and out. It drives as nice as our 2004 Accord and we love it

  • Perfect vehicle for us - 2006 Honda Odyssey

This minivan has proved itself to be perfect for our requirements. I cannot think of how it could be improved except for gas mileage. My only comment otherwise is: why does the speedometer show up to 160 mph? Much as I like my Odyssey, I do not plan to drive it at 160 mph. John Quinlan
