This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Good Minivan - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Have put 10000 on so far, had no complaints. We use our van hard and it has held up very well. Removeable/stowable seats are wonderful, easy to drive, lots of power for a minivan. OK mileage (22) for a large van. Nice to have a million cup holders, too. It is not outstanding in any particular category, but does everything well, probably the most "easy to live with on a daily basis vehicle" I have owned. Kinda like a favorite hat, you grab it on the way out the door and it gets the job done.

  • A/c not working b/c of rock - 2006 Honda Odyssey

My husband and I purchased a brand new Odyssey Van in June 2006. Absolutely love the van. We have had no problems until we realized our air conditioner wasn’t working recently in May 2008. Our van only has 24,000 miles on it. I called Fairfield Performance Honda service and was told if it is a rock that damaged the condenser it is not covered. They already knew what was wrong with it b/c they have thousands of complaints on the same matter. Corp will not cover b/c they said it is road debris. Its not consumers fault that they poorly design the front. There is no protection on the front to protect the condenser.Honda needs take take responsibility and recall all Honda cars and vans with problem

  • Not that good on gas! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The Honda van is very nice inside as far as style, comfort. The main complaint is the AC going out two times. The struts went out early in the game, and the road noise is loud. I cannot hear my children asking questions from the seat in far back of the van. I do like the separate climate control, heated front seats, shades for the children and the sliding doors.

  • Thank Goodness for Warranties - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I love the look of the van and the way it handles like a car. We bought the van new and have had several problems. First within the first year the power steering pump had to be replaced. I was told by the dealer they had to replace a lot of them but no recalls were issued. Next the emergency brake was leaking inside the van all over the floorboard and had to be fixed. The latest problems have been the struts and the transmission. The back struts have blown and had to be replaced. I am now waiting for a call from the dealer to have the transmission case replaced because it is leaking. I have 31,000 miles on the van and am still under warranty, thank goodness.

  • wheel bearings - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Hard driven 96,000 miles, 1st real problem ever is front wheel bearings, gotten so bad so fast, was first mistaken for noisy out of alignment tires, @ 48 mph is worse, put car in neutral and cut off engine (in a safe manner) if noise remain it is a $850 repair job @ a Honda dealer. Watch out for the common scams, you have water in your transmission and your $700 engine mounts are broken, 2 @ $1400.1st ever brake pads in front, spark plugs but was not needed, 6 cd changer is stupid in todays cars, they break, mp3 is better and cheaper choice. Anyway dealers double charges you for everything, $60 for shop supplies? Engine mounts for $1400 and scare tactics youre going to crash, will hurt Hondas reputation.

  • Great Riding Van - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Im very happy with my van, due to health problems I havent been able to drive it as much as I want. The MPG are pretty good 17-18 city & 26 Hwy. Ive read some reviews that stated poor gas mileage. maybe they are driving at 90 on the Hwy, Im driving 70-75. The worst Hwy MPG Ive gotten was 24 MPG. Am I happy I bough it ? Yes !!

  • Great car but two gotchas - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Great car, very tight build, very quiet. But the gas mileage so far is 15-16 in town, and 22-24 on the highway. Far from what the window sticker says. Coupled with a fairly small gas tank for a van and it means that the range is not very good. And while there are about a hundred cupholders, none of them work very well. Youll be chasing bottles of water after every turn.

  • Expected More - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Ive been driving this van for several months now and it has its quarks that my Chrysler Town & Country didnt have. Noisy interior, hard suspension, A/C stops working when engine is at idle during hot days (stuck in traffic), transmission slow to engage into gear from park (slow into reverse or drive), CD player doesnt have a rewind (so you need to listen to an entire track again if you miss something, bad for instructional cds), steering pulls hard to the same direction you are turning under acceleration, throttle is at times slow to respond (has a delay between pushing the gas and the van moving), easy to confuse automatic side doors if someone pulls the handle after I push the button.

  • Interior needs work - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Me and my wife have this van for 2 yrs. Fuel economy stinks, entertainment stopped working after six months. We have the ex cloth w/entertainment. Should have gotten ex-L without entertainment. We have children and for that it is great. Comfort is good. Overall good.

Have had my honda 2006 for 10 months. I have had to replace front brakes at 10,000 miles and the gas pedal had to also be replaced due to rattling and rubbing noises (metal against metal). They said it is the first time they have ever seen this. All in all we have really enjoyed this van. We upgraded from the 2003 because we were pleased with the quality of the first van.Road noise is still a problem and when the middle row windows are rolled down it sounds like a train going by at full speed. Hopefully, no other problems.
